jumped my 8, bent something
hey, hope someone can help. I accidently jumped my 8 of a bridge i landed smooth but i did go high and far but it didnt even seem to bottom out. I had my wheels and shocks off to intstall some new springs and noticed the 2 little rods on the rear which go from the anti roll bar to the control arm (theyre about 4 insches long with 4 blue tabs on each end) are both bent, yet everything else seems to be fine. it drives fine but clearly it needs to be fixed. The problem is thyere are soooo expensive, could i straighten them? What do they do? and has this happened to anyone else? thanks.

^^ agreed. And, no, you can't straighten them. They have bent, bending them back will make them far less strong then they are even now, bent. You have to replace them.
How did you accidnetally jump your 8 off a bridge? You didn't just get out of the new dukes of hazard movie did you?? :p

Was this a draw bridge? Suspension bridge? Truss Bridge? Did you land on the road again? Did you scream "Yeah Ha" like the Dukes of Hazzard? What gear were you in? What was your speed? Was anyone chasing you? These are all very important questions to find out what happened.

This has to be done in reverse though!

Thanks for the reply's guys. It really was an accident. Theres this hump backed bridge where i live and i hit it about 80 hoping to just feel a bit of a drop but id never it it this way before. I actually took off about 4 feet in the air, perfect take off and landing, didnt even bottom. but i wont be doing it again.

Dear Mazda Forum Watchers:
It's guys like this that you should be busting for abusing their cars, not the guys that occasionally autocross their cars (not that I would ever do that) and not the guys that occasionally exceed 100 mph.
I'm thinking that jumping your car pretty well voids the warranty.

Like everyone else said, I'd head to a body shop and have them put it on a body alignment jig. I'd bet the entire unibody is out of whack in a number of directioins. If you slammed your car on the ground hard enough to bend the rear suspension trailing links, I'm sure there's plenty more that has been bent as well.
