damn that sux im so pissed i got the botom of the barrel for 8's actually second to last, sport is the worst at least i got the touring, im just pissed that its not a manual, i wanted one so bad but i just settled for this, at least the are hundreds of mods for it

Should have done more research beforehand though. Just check with Mazda to make sure the recalls/TSBs have been performed.

yea you guys are right, it still drives damn good, im just a little worried about the engine and replacing it, does the mazda 8 year engine warrenty cover a new engine? i think it does

I have an '04 MTand love it. Original engine. Tranny 5th gear synchro repaired under warranty. Cat and muffler replaced under warranty. Coils replaced once. My car is over 5 years old, runs beautifully. If I could turn back time, knowing what I know.... I'd buy the same exact car!

I had a 04 AT now have a 04 MT.
Loved my AT ran good and strong. Changed my oil every 2,500 miles (still do), premixed (still do), would red line and drive on the freeway (still do). Then one day my engine went out after I got flashed. Guess it was just that time. My second engine ran strong. No probs. My AT was had no mods aside from springs and rims.
The OG 04 AT's came with one oil cooler. If yours has just one talk to MONA about getting a second one. Some guys had luck with doing that. My dealer ship installed one for me for free after my first engine went out. You might want to look into that. If not buy one from a junk yard. Someone has to have a tottaled 8 in your neck 'o da woods. Also if you can get away with it; get a race pipe. It will let a lot of that backed up engine heat out and your car will run much cooler/better. Also look into getting a up to date flash at a mazda dealer.
Aside from that if you just keep up on your oil and check the level every fill up and change your spark plugs, wires, coils and fluids every year and you should have a good little 8
