Just bought me an RX8, Let the goo times roll!
Hi All,
I've been lurking about here for some time doing research and have posted once or twice in order to get help from you guys. Thanks to all who helped me.
I took the plunge last night and put a deposit on a '05 MT Touring package. It has only 17,000 miles on it and is in great condition.
I am just after moving over to America from Ireland ( Where cars and gas are so expensive compared to America). My last car in Ireland was the Mazda MX5. It was a '00 MK2 which I bought in early 2006 with 23,000 miles for more than I paid for my new RX8. I am in the process of getting my American drivers license (I have the test on Aug 27th) so am currently driving a rental on my Irish license. Until I get my license my new car has to remain parked in the dealership as I can't get insurance until then.
So until then all I have to keep myself happy is looking at the pics of my new purchase I know I'm just being impatient but I believe that most people would be in my shoes, having paid for the car and not being able to drive it for a week or so.
Thanks again for the advice and I look forward to sharing my experience over the next few years with the new love of my live. Pic attached

Welcome!!!!
Go Irish folks.... if it weren't for beer we would rule the world!!!
That does suck about your ride, but you will appreciate it more, well probably not but it might make you feel better.

Welcome! It sounds like you were able to find a great low-milage 8. Good luck on getting the licence and insurance. I'm not so sure how difficult it is to get a licence in Ireland, but its fairly simple and inexpensive here in the states (as opposed to places like Germany).
BTW, you may want to consider putting you're new location in your profile.
Cheers

welcome and good luck on the test, I'm sure you'll zip through it like nothing... yeah, it sucks to not be able to drive a newly purchased car but that should give you enough motivation to square everything away in order to drive way with it.

After seeing the RR and Ferrari symbols in the background, I think you got the short end of the stick from that dealership
Congrats though, welcome to the club! RX-8's are a close second anyway

Thanks to all for the welcome and best wishes. I'm sure the test is just a formality. The way I look at it is if I don't pass it I don't belong behind the wheel of an 8
