Just bought my first 8

This last saturday i picked up my 2004 RX-8.. its Velocity Red, has all black interior.. 6 speed manual.. and is stock besides tires. only has 25.5k miles..

So far i love the car.. drove a 96 camaro before this.. and i'm loving how the car drives..

Plan on starting to drop money into the car soon.. starting with body mods and such.. (gonna wait on engine until i deploy) .. was thinking of putting in red interior neons under the seats and under the dash.. seems like a easy mod, and i think it looks great.

any thoughts? Also any other "cheaper" mods anyone can think of?

Also i'll get some pictures tomorrow.

thanks.

One of the many mods some people do is to put clear corners on their 8.
I like the looks of them on black, red, silver, gray and white..... Not so much on yellow or orange.
Check out some of the members photos of their cars to get some ideas.

Looks-wise you'll find everything here from stock to "over the top".

Check out RotaryFX.com which use to be RX-8 Strakes.com.

Welcome to the club.

i actually had no plan to buy a 8.. my older brother thats 28 has one.. so i always kinda figured it would be weird if we both owned one. Before i had been deadset in buying a 35 anny Camaro SS.. or at least a LS1, after realizing i was never going to find one i liked.. with low miles.. for a good price, i set my sights on a "newer" car..

Im currently stationed at Little Rock AFB, AR.. and i wanted to buy a car back home in missouri.. so i got on the interwebs.. and found my baby on Carmax.. they had a yellow one with 45k and my Velocity Red one with 25k.. so i flew home.. and bought it the next day.

I had looked at other cars before finding it.. i test drove a 09 Eclipse GT.. and a 350z.. but none compared to how much i liked the 8.. inside, outside, everywhere.

must have been an 06 350z and below, huge diff from the 07s.

Also that is amazing to cross shop a camaro SS and rx8, cars from two different spectrums of speed haha Im not trying to say you made a bad choice but you should have definitaly test drove a LS1 camaro, since you owned an LT1 it may have been a welcome shock to you, in fact even though you have the 8 already you should still try to take a drive in an LS1 camaro to see how it feels

But congrats on the purchase

VR FTW! Fastest colour in the world.

Just get clear corners. Dont do any inside neon lights as it doesn't look that good. The only thing I would do would be to get Footwell lights for the car as it doesnt have any.

Also, if you want to do an engine mod, I say get a midpipe. Cheapest and most effective way of getting power.

I test drove many many LS1's.. i love the raw power they put out.. but the handling seems sluggish compared to a newer sports car.. and Camaro's are almost as bad as Stangs are when it comes to seeing them.. no doubt.. 305 HP stock is fun.. along with topping 400 HP for under a grand.. but i guess i just want someone that looks better.. not saying i dont like how camaro's look.. but i would say 8's look better haha.

YES!!! you get it! haha and not to mention the interior direrence is ridiculous, RX8 has one of he nicest interiors in my opinion, and the old camaros..well its disgusting o be frank.

Thats another reason i love my GTO you can right away tell from the interior that it wasnt made or designed in america another reason why i chose it over a terminator cobra, hate to sound like a girl but to me the interior is actually quite important as its the part of the car i will be seeing most
