Just brought it home

Well, I'm just home from the dealership with my RX8. 2006, Silver. Brand new. I've never owned a new car before. Traded up from a 1995 Miata that I'd been driving since 1997.

I did a few errands on the way home and discovered I couldn't find reverse. Yikes.

The car is in the garage right now. I'm a bit anxious til I figure out how to get it out of the garage! How to find that gear, in other words.

Wish me luck, and I'm happy to find a forum of fellow RX8 owners!

LOL I had the same problem when I took mine home. Push down on the stick, then shift.

push the shifter straight down (should move about an 1/8 of an inch down) then shift into 6th. or just put it in neutral and push the car out of your driveway.

Nah. You don't really have a new RX-8 you just brought home today. If you really had one, you'd be out getting some ZOOM-ZOOM and not posting here.

You must've brought home a show car (Mustang, BMW, etc) and not a fun car or you'd be out driving it.

My teenager has mine or you wouldn't be reading this.

You've never looked forward to running errands som much in your life. You'll want to buy a six-pack a single can at a time just so you can make six trips to the store (and of course the local mart won't do, you got to have the stuff they only sell at the store at the other end of the "twisties" from where you live).

Congrats, don't get nervous, the feeling doesn't seem to wear off quickly, so that euphoria you feel now will be sticking around awhile.

teenager back gotta go!

Nothing like someone who just arrived welcoming you but welcome. Yeah, search, search, search. Lotsa good stuff on this board and in the manual for that matter. (But the manual doesn't seem to have divergent conversations about boobies and synthetic oil)

Enjoy the car because holy crap is it fun.

The feeling of yur first new car is pretty dang awesome! Just last month I went through the same thing! I sure hope you have less new-car issues then I did with all the paint. Aside from that, the new-car feeling is pretty sweet!

Congrats on the purchase and welcome aboard!
