Just came back from the dealer after my recalls.....??HP increase??
I cannot believe how much more "peppy" my 8 feels after I got it back from the dealer......I feels as if they did a performance mod that got me like 10-15 more Horsepower. Its unbelieveable. Obviously it is from the newest FLASH. So my hypothesis is this....there must be more than just a code to "shut down" a high RPM for more that x # of seconds. Do note that My last flash was M
Is anyone else experiencing a more responsive gas pedal???

Also depending on what flash you are coming from (ie K, L, M, etc) ... the ECU was tweaked to give more low down torque. Maybe that's what you feel as well. But I attribute it to the ECU reset.

don't get me wrong, from the time of the port campaign flash to the present (some umpteen flashes later) the renesis engine has regained some of its lost performance. This maybe due to tweaking of the fuel maps, timing, etc. However, I do not expect uncle Mazda to give us all of the 247 horses they promised us before...

The ECU adapts to how one drives. So if you've been trying to save gas and get good mpg, the ECU reset could make a difference.
I usually drive in a spirited manner > 50% of the time. When I went from L to M, I was livid, the performance seemed to have gotten worse. But after driving the hell out of the car for an hour or two in frustration, suddenly the power was back. So the ECU really does learn ones driving style.
On the other hand, there are some who believe that the changes in the N flash did help the performance character of the car. And stuff in N is carried forward to the current R or E or whatever the flash is called these days.
I'm taking my car in for the recall later this week and I've been driving the snot out of the car to make sure the ECU is in a "aggressive" mode. So if it the power seems better for me too, I'll believe it's more than just the ECU reset. (I'm currently still at M.)

I have to agree that my 8 has been fast as h-ll since I got her back from the dealer recall service and ? flash update. When I mash the accelerator now it feels like I'm being shot out of a cannon- it's the best kick this car has had since I bought her in 2004!
Great Stuff!

Got my '8 back the other day from the recall work.. it is DEFINATELY faster. I was previously on the "M" before.... I had a BIG hesitation between 6 and 7K... almost like a stumble... now its silky smooth, from 3 to 9K. It also idles a bit better.
I do have an early build car tho...

after i got the recall flash it feels slower as well but my mpg has gotten WAY better. at 150 miles midway! wahoo! i think the flash might've leaned out the mixture a bit? i ono but that would explain the better gas mileage im getting

i always find it halarious with each new flash come reports of more power... after 5 flashes no if you add up the power from each flash i think we'd be running with STi's by now
BTW - the process of a new "flash" results in your fuel trims being zeroe'd out (which in most cases your car will be leaner and might have a bit more power for the first 2 or 3 trips)

I already have R Flash when I went in for the recall service. When I got it back, they said they did the gas tank but not the ball joint (mine is fine). They also reflashed a new PCM. I don't know what they reflashed it with because I already have the latest flash. They didn't indicate which version on the receipt.
My car feels the same.

i just got my car back wed. from getting a new bumper. in addition to that, they took care of both recalls and also got my front brake squeal and HVAC controls fixed. the first time i punched it in first, it did feel a little quicker, but that's probably just me being used to driving the mrs' corolla for a couple of days. just glad to get her back.

If I have learned nothing by observing this forum it is that facts speak and without A) Dyno results (of course with all due respect to the various nuances of mustang versus whatever dyno machines) or B) deep throat knowledge of what the f'in Mazda engineers actually did with the new code, it is all just butt dyno input and that is all worth a pile of butt output.
