hey guys,

even though i do not own a rx8, i am posting cuase a friend just got one and i am probably gonna do a system in it and also help out with some other mods, I am a professional car audio installer and performance upgrader by trade

since this is a new car, I figure there is no better place than this forum for information and tips when it comes to working on an rx8...so, hopefully you guys will be of much help to me in the future...

and after reading up on some of hte topics, I would like to clear a few things up: hehe, yes, I do drive a volvo, and no, I am not old, and no, it does not break down all the time, and yeah, I think it is pretty fast and handles pretty well and looks decent... curious as to if anyone tried racing a 850 turbo at all? once my freind takes delivery of his car, I would liek to do a few runs with him...

cheers...

We had an '97 850 GLT (190hp). I think it may have been as quick to 60 (if maybe marginally slower) from a standing start than the Turbo of the same year because of the Turbo's turbo-lag. Once moving, the Turbo was definitely much quicker. Both were nice cars. The GLT's engine was so lightly boosted and at such low RPMs that you never felt lag at all. Pre '97 GLTs didn't have turbos, and you'll actually notice that from '97 on the GLT shared its square exhaust pipe with the Turbo and T5, whereas '96 and earlier edition GLTs shared a round exhaust pipe with the base "non-boosted" car. Now, the R (and later t5-r)....well, they were different animals entirely.

well, i think the rx8's strong point is not in standing accleration, but in handling, i think i can beat my freinds car in a straightline, but he will quickly loose me in the twisties, even with all the mods that I have. (I have a t5 wagon with somewhere between 270-280 crank hp and about 290 ft/lbs)

ever since the rx8 came out, i have liked it, even though I am not a sports car kind of guy...cant wait to drive it
