Talking Just drove the new baby home

Well it's been a long wait to get her but it's finally over. I just picked up my VR 06 RX-8 GT this afternoon.

Put about 100 miles on her just this afternoon. I've been reading a lot on this forum about how to care for and maintain a rotary engine and the only thing thats bogging me down is picking out the right oil. I want to go with a non-synthetic but I just can't quite decide which one. Other than that I'm pretty confident I can keep the engine purring for some 100k miles all thanks to the massive bank of information on this site.

It was too dark for pictures when I got back but I'm definitely going to take a bunch tomorrow. And I haven't stopped smiling since about 5 this afternoon.

1st mod should always be OMP Adapter so that you can switch to synthetic!

Angry OMG pissed

Yeah, so I'm only 20 hours or so into this wonderful relationship and what freaking happens? someone dents my front passenger fender. Inch and half long scratch all the way through the paint and a dent about the size of my freaking palm.

I have a $150 deductible on comprehensive so i'm pretty sure it will be covered. And yeah, i'm that guy that parks his car in the back of the parking lot and moves all the carts within a 100 ft radius just to be safe. i just can't believe i've had this car for less than a day and i'm already nursing a wound.

Pictures to follow my buddy's 21st celebration tonight, including the wonderful new damage.

Please accept my condolences. I know how much that must suck right now. If it's any consolation (probably it won't) I bought an 07 Odyssey last year and it suffered a rear end hit and run in the hospital parking lot where my wife works.

THANK YOU! --- For making a thread that wasn't filled with questions that are easily search-able. Lately, the newbies to the forum post question threads concerning gas milage, the tailight fishtank, oil burning, etc...

Welcome to the club, and congrats on making a positive 1st thread.

Pictures and some lessons learned

Well my insurance company is making me pay a $500 deductible for collision rather than comprehensive since apparently getting struck by a door falls under that category.

I bought two quarts of Castrol GTX 5W20 and also got a touchless wash done. Here are some of the pictures, sorry some of them are repeats of the same shot.

Heres a few more. I have been having the gas reflux problem where when filling up gas spills out the top of the tank and down the rear quarter panel.

I used the search and found some solutions for it, doesn't seem like too common of a problem to have. Gosh I feel like such a big boy, using the search all by myself. Though I have to say the search function isn't that great, I'm figuring it out. I ended up getting 19.8 mpg on my first tank.

Thats the dent and scratch on the front passenger fender. It almost doesn't look like it got hit by a door at all but it's the only logical scenario based on how I've parked my car.

And the last picture is in my schools parking lot. I had already parked all the way down at the end but when I saw two lined up and an empty space beside them I just had to go move my car. I'll be throwing most of these pics into the VR thread too.
