just finished being at the revit up today!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey everybody just came from the revit up. Man I love the 8 even though I dont own one yet, well lets cut to the chase my 1st run was 37.xxx time, boo I hit a cone. 2nd run i hit a 33.xxx time.
Well I test drove the mazdaspeed miata and it rocks if I had the money to get both the miata and the 8 I would, but I love rotary.

Must have been at the Chicago rev-it-up... I was there on Saturday. I ran a 34.xx and 31.xx- I was just getting the hang of autocrossing with a front wheel drive... I wish we had another run or two.

D Menac 7 and I had our 8's on display in front of the MazdaSport Enthusiasts' tent- talked to tons people about the virtues of rotary power

I was at rev it up on saturday too. I ran a 32.2, and a 31.145. I don't really like autoX. Especially with FWD. I didn't know there would be members there. I checked out the mazdaspeed 8 and miata. More head room in the hard top 8.

I'm going to be at the DC event in two weeks ... I did it last year and had a blast driving the 6, should be even more fun with the smaller 3 and the rx-8 and MS miata to test drive :D I had never had any sort of autox experience before, but I totally am going to get involved sometime in the near future.

Yes- the 3 is much better than the 6... and they've tuned the suspension making it surprisingly neutral for a FWD. I was expecting lots of understeer but had none at all.

I've got the auto-x bug again myself- it's been a few years but I'm going to hook up with the Windy City Miata club for their events and get my 8 out on the cone hunt.

Tell me that the Rev It Up cars have manual transmissions. I'm attending the DC event in early May but would be disappointed if I couldn't do the shifting myself.

Would love to, but no... they're all autos. The only small upside is the M3's all have the manual-mode autos, and the course is fairly slow and quite small, so once you put it in second you can just leave it there. Launching is really the only problem- feels like you're in slow motion, even with holding down the brake and revving to 3k.

Thanks for the info, G8rboy. I suppose I can live with missing just one 1-2 shift. I suppose I had some faint hope of learning how to heel-and-toe using someone else's gearbox . . .

They may use the same cars from city to city. I wonder how many autocross runs a Mazda 3 could survive before being ready for retirement.
