Thumbs up Just got it !!!!

My new RX-8 was delivered to my door at 10:30pm 3-25-07. Its a titanium gray 6 speed grand touring with navigation and appearance package. I can only tell u that i love this thing. Cranking the engine is a bit tricky. Guess i need to get used to it as to not overcrank it. It also makes this noise when its in neutral and the pedal is not pressed down. When i press the pedal the noise goes away but im guessing thats normal? Maybe im due for a new clutch? Car has 40K miles on it so maybe its about that time. I dunno. Gonna do a forum search on that later.
I was fairly eager to drive the car as it didnt have plates on it but i took it out anyways around the block (dont worry cause cars insured). I was playing with the gps educating myself. I think i got the hang of using it. I do know that u can get into the diagnostics mode by pressing the cursor up 3 times then down 3 times then up twice. Now when the guy showed that to me i thought it was pretty cool and he showed me 1 particular screen where it shows a picture of the car and a couple of other things below it. Iv tried to find that screen with no luck. Again.... i may have to search for that.
I love the interiors lighting feature such as the guages. They look hot as hell at night. I would prefer more interior lighting but what i have is what i would recomend as the bare minimum. Exterior of the car is so beautifull. I cant imagine how some people dont like the look but i read somewhere where people either love it or hate it. Heated seats r truely a nice touch as they may come in handy durring those cold nights. I havent had a chance to test the a/c but that will come in time. I do know that it works though.
I have experienced heavy road noise but thats due to the tires so my next step is to get new ones. Probably khumos? Im also going to add a remote start lcd alarm system (which i purchased already) made specificaly for manual trannys, as extra security and features never hurt. Also going to incorporate an amp/subs/cap because sound is very important to me. Along the way i will add a dvd player that works with the stock navigation head unit. Aside form those things i may get streaks and a condensor protector, maybe a front end bra to protect from pit marks but not sure bout that one as of yet.
Iv been on this forum for quite some time now so iv read alot and contributed very little. Its almost scary to post soemthing in fear ull get flamed but i guess u have to expect that in every forum as my last car was a 92 300zx with 25K original miles on it. Sold it to get the rx8 but my point is there plenty of flame wars on that forum as well. Guess u cant please everyone .
If anyone wants to see my new car then click here as it was thanx to this site where i found my new car.
Anyhow... Ill be on this forum for a while now that im officialy an rx-8 owner checking everyday for new posts, new ideas and contributions. Im truely glad to be here so thanx all for reading this and thanx to the admins who made this site possible for all to share.

your noise is either a throwout bearing or gear rollover. Do a search on them, but that sound is normal. if you feel it is excessive, have your dealer look at your shift boots, one could have a hole in it which is letting the sound through. Congrats on the ride!

Thanx everyone for the comments. I was so eager to drive my car tonight (legally) that i pulled a personal favor from my job in order to get to the dmv and register it. After 2 pleasent hours of waiting i got my registration and temp inspection stickers. One funny note.... On the dmv form it states how many cylinders the car has (as theres no option for rotary) so in the blank space i put down rotary. The dmv person was like "whats a r-o-t-a-r-y?" I explained but she didnt get it. She was like "well it runs on gas right?" I told her yes and she said that that was good enough for her.
On another note. I thought it was just me but i guess everyone here cought the stare disease. I hear there is still no cure for it cause just like u guys i must have cought it. as i left my rx8 and said good night, i couldnt stop staring at it. Its looks, its curves, Its has smooth shape yet looks agressive. How some people dont like the style is beyond me but to each his/her own.
I think ur right about the throwout bearing. May just be worn out but im fairly sure dealer will consider it a wear and tear item and wont be covered under warrantee. I dont think its a big deal as the bearings lubricating properties is probably shot. After all the car does have 40K on it.
Ohh i do have a quick question though. If i have the pre-recall items (say the battery, starter, etc...) If i go to the dealer and tell them that my items havent been updated, even though theres no problem with them, will they still honor the recall and switch it? On the same page..... should i get them replaced if they havent been giving me any problems? Im thinking while/if they do the recall i should mention the dip stick breather as my oil has the common cream colored foam that some of u guys experience.
Thanx again for all the previous responses. Im looking forward to future postings and quite possibly joining some meets (if any)

I stand very corrected.

The interior and exterior look to be in great condition for 40K miles. Love the color!

If any recall work has not been done, the dealer is responsible for doing it regardless of whether the car is in warranty or not.

The car has two rotaries so most people put two cylinders. I think that is what the insurance companies do.
