Can't say I understand. Do you mean the HID pattern and your RX-8 is new or do you mean you have a new cutoff because your headlights were serviced or adjusted?
I have the HIDs in my RX-8. It took a while to get used to the severe cut-off on the low-beams, but now I like it (or, at least, I'm used to it). I expect it's quite helpful to oncoming traffic (they certainly don't like my high-beams if I forgot or I'm slow).
Personally, I find the z-pattern where the level rises on the passenger side to be distracting. To me it looks like something is out of allignment and I don't like that, but I certainly don't hate it.

I think the cutoff pattern looks awesome, IMO it gives the 8 a more edgy personality. When cruising through the city I love seeing the edge of the cutoff dancing on road signs, trees, walls, etc. It's great!!! My friend with a G35 also envies the 8's HID cutoff

I hate the low beams in this car, IMO the cutoff pattern is a serious safety issue for the occupants, I'm driving blind have the time, fortunately it doesn't see much road use, I don't know how you daily drivers can stand it

I can only assume your headlights aren't aimed correctly. I have the HID lights and they do a fine job of illuminating the roadway. If you have the fog lights put them on and they fill in the near area nicely.
