RX-8 it is!
My last "car" was a 5.9 Durango, which I recently sold (thank god with gas prices these days). I'm over 30 and never would of thought getting another manual transmission again, perhaps only SMG or so (was looking at the BMW 330Ci)... until I test drove the RX-8 two weeks ago. Boy this a great, fun car to drive. It just beg to be reved... I have been considering the car ever since.
Well as a result I bought the RX-8 since I can't stop thinking about driving it again anyway. M/T of course.
Delivery is schedule for sometime this week-end. Got a good deal too, few hundreds over invoice.
I'm enjoying driving again and quite frankly although I hate to admit I feel like a kid on Christmas eve right now.

I bet the mileage on this car won't be much better than the durango though.Good luck.Welcome to the cult er club.I just joined on tuesday when I picked up my Nordic green base 6 speed.I love it as well, but the gas mileage is poor.I haven't even brought the tach over 5k yet and the gas mileage is terrible.110 miles to a half a tank.Man and I thought my 83 RX-7 is bad.Thank god for my big bad diesel truck. It gets 21 MPG.At over 6k pounds too.

i have had my 8 for exactly one year today !! You will be a changed man soon, always looking for a place to go, even shopping with the GF isn't a big deal anymore as long as it's far away from home. :-)

Thanks for the welcome guys!
Wow, some of you have had the 8 for months and even year and still grinning!?
It's even worse now...Boy I can't wait...
Looks like they did! Of all the car I've ever own I've never felt this way with any of them. The pleasure was more or less of a pride thing, owning a nice good looking car if you will.
But with the the 8 it's totally different, It's seems like it's not only about the car itself but alot about the sheer satisfaction one gets by driving it.
The anticipation is driving me nuts... perhaps I'll call in sick for the rest of the week

Funny how when i first got mine gas mileage was of little concern , and the first 1000 miles no concern . Was having to much fun just driving it ,damn the break in i drove it like it was meant to be driven. Well after 3000k i can say the mileage has improved ,driving habits have not. Recent trip thru the mountains in western MD, hills to those in the mountains resulted in 21 mpg, this was with just poking around the back roads also. Did not get to do to much wheeling on the turns ,roads were wet and did not want to get the passenger seat wet either , bad enough the leather will take sometime to get her fingerprints out just from the drive up. Mileage is the same as my 8 dakota so i am lovin life !!

Talk to the dealer ealier today, and unfortunately it looks like I'll have to wait until next Tuesday before I can take delivery of my 8. The car is still at port since I requested for them to pick the latest production date available. And we all know there's still plenty for them to pick from
So in essence, no RX-8 for this week-end!

I have owned my car for three weeks now. I miss some things about the Audi, mainly space and the quality. There is something about German cars that is tactile quality that you almost can't describe.
However, the RX is so much fun, I quickly forget about the Audi.

No way! You sold a 00 S4 for the RX8?!
You like the RX better?!
That's a close call. If you don't miss your Audi, then it makes my purchase feel even better, cause sometimes when I see a 00-02 S4 I get a little twinge of doubt, cause I could have bought one used and hopped it up. You can get tremendous performance out of that engine.

BTW, I'm 36 and this my first real fun car - I didn't regret it a single second so far.

SKy88, the test drive hooked me too. The past four years I've been driving a truck to haul my dirt bikes around, but before that I had a couple Mustang GT's, a 280ZX Turbo and a 300ZX Turbo. I was all set to buy another Mustang until I drove the 6-speed RX-8. I couldn't pass up that true sports car feeling it has. Picking up mine in a few hours. The anticipation is building...
