Just installed my fender strakes.

For all our friends in the UK, I ordered the fender strakes from ebay UK for 65 uk sterling thats half the price Mazda wanted! They arrived in less than a week and are made of stainless steal. They look fantastic. All those interested click on the link. I think he ships to the US aswell. Pics coming soon.

Those are Howard's stainless jobs, aren't they? I just bought a set which someone hadn't fitted to their car on the UK group - they have a very good reputation so I have high hopes for my RX looking very tidy :D

....and make sure you include some more of that beautiful Cypress scenery in your pics.

Is this around $100 US dollars? I'm looking for a good price to order this week.

I installed my Mazda strakes today, along with a pearl satin fuel door. Both look great, and it just so happens I have a Ti Grey also.

+1 for Ti Grey!

I ordered them from his site a couple of days ago, but I haven't received a confirmation e-mail from him. Is that normal? I did get a confirmation e-mail from pay pal though.

I only got confirmation from pay pal aswell and they arrived 6-7 days later.

It comes to 130 US dollars with the shipment.

He is really busy, it took a while for confirmation from me, but he may already send them, thats what he did for me...sent them then I got the confirm email.

Thanks for the compliments,

I am debating the chrome handles to match (dont worry that would be the end of it for fears of ricerocity).

Yeah, I ordered fender strakes last monday from Howard too. So its been about 9-10 days, depending on if you count the day I ordered them. And I live in cincinnati, ohio. Is it typical for it to take this long? I dont have the best patience, and plus I want to get them on, along with the clear side markers before the weekend so I can show all my former college baseball buddies the new ride. Let me know whats up and if this is typical...

Thanks,

JB

I kept bugging him and probably got annoying Keep in mind airmail is 7-10 days to the US from Britain (thats east coast) and they come registered so someone HAS to sign for them. They attempted delivery at my place Feb 4th but my desk attendent at my apartment couldn't sign for it and I got a last reminder notice (no earlier reminders) on Feb 18th...

so I could have had them 2 weeks before...frustrating!

Hmmmm...do you think the polish is long lasting? I fear these might end up like the guy who polished his stock rims (keeping in mind he didn't give it a clear coat).

I'm tried to decide if colored fender strakes would look better than these. I have not seen enough pictures of the colored ones but the chrom/polish ones look really nice on black RX8's like mine.

Well, I got the set i'd bought - Howard's strakes, but sold to me by a member of the UK OC who had sold their car and never fitted them, so they were 'new' (still had the sticky, screws in a bag and so forth).

Here's how they look on my grey. I think I did a reasonable alignment job; I've seen much worse. I only hope the sticky sticks well enough in this horrid cold, damp weather we're 'enjoying'.

Got mine today after only 5 days. I was told(I think) before I ordered that they had a clearcoat on them, but looking at them upon arrival, I don't really see one; unless it's uber thin.

$200 a pair for unnoticeable carbon fiber grilles that may lighten your car by half a pound...go with the strakes

That's what I was thinking... I'd like a complete picture of the car as it seems these may give the impression of a wider/more aggressive front fender but I just noticed the $200 price... ouch.

I like those, I've had the mazda fender strakes since i bought the car and I don't like them anymore. I don't think they go well with my body kit and also I hate the cheap looking plastic of the stock vent. Its starting to get discolored and its a pain in the *** to keep clean. I'm not a big fan of carbon fiber but I want something that can easily be wiped clean and wont fade like the cheap stock junk.
