What's a bad wash job got to do with the quality of the paint?

yeah and gunk is pretty non-descriptive. That could be anything from muddy water to nuclear waste. Who knows.

To get back to the point. I haven't considered the paint job cheap. It has help up well for me. I put it under a cover. But boy to I wish I had a garage.

Is it ambergris? If so, scrape it off and send it to me. I know how to dispose of it.

The 8's paint quality is still not to Euro standards but it's not too bad..... still a bit too thin in some areas and too much orange peel effect.

Compared to the other cars my family and I have had, the 8's paint is up there next to the Audi A4, although the 8 does have a bit more orange peel.

They paint seems good to me, it's just that they didn't finish it off very well. There are other threads in the forum which point to a poorly applied/cheap clear coat as the cause of the orange peel look. (you can even buff the clearcoat to a mirror-like shine if you got the cojones - I don't.)
I use Zaino, which is great, and it brings out specks of silver in my Ti Grey. It works so well, I have had people tell me my car looks shinier than the day I bought it. Alas, it doesn't get out the orange peel.

P.S. I bet a bird could **** on my hood and it would run off the car onto the ground.
