Just a quick ecu question
I took my car into the mazda dealer today for a ecu reflash that they had scheduled. Anyway my papaerwork says this and i'm not sure if i got the reflash like they said i would on the phone:
concern 51: customer requests to update control unit with latest calibration as told per mazda for poor gas mileage and intermit hard start.
Cause: Vehicle Eligible for later Calibration
Correction: Recalibrated control mudule per service bulletin
FP: 555503017A Diagnosis: 9W
Like in others posts i don't see any letters K or L or M...so i dunno if they did it or not. What do you guys think?

Look under your hood. There should be a ticker there that says -M
Mine were attached to the underside of the hood as opposed to on the fender walls or anything like that.
Mine was a light blue and white sticker with the mazda logo on it.

No Gods For Me
I don't think Mazda service is religious about putting those stickers on. I had my 8 updated to the "L" reflash (verified by peddle push) and there was no sticker.

same here -- so I thought. After verifying "L" update via brake test, I found the sticker on the hood, but it was practically hidden:
I found it behind the first recess from the hood's leading edge, so I had to lean into the engine compartment and look up to see it. It's mostly clear (=easy to miss), with black printing, but does have the logo described above.

yea i'll look for that sticker. But i tried that 20 tap brake thing, and no guage tack moves....but my car does start up a lot quicker than before almost like a piston engine. Before i had to wait like 2 seconds now it's almost an instant start.

You got it done today (Whoops! Yesterday! :D) and it mentions the service bulletin. That adds-up to an "M" flash in my book.

You need to turn the ignition key to ON position without cranking, immediately pump the brake pedal as fast as you can, at least 20 times. The oil gage should move to mid-span & back. I got the "L" flash last week & it works. I just kept pumping the brake, lost count, but that's alright, it'll do it when you get to 20.
It's the indication that you cleared the eccentric shaft plate profile memory from the PCM when you do this, so it's gotta work if you got the "L" or the "M" flash.

what racer x-8 said and if you can't find the sticker under the hood try the drivers side door edge. thats where they put my sticker. the background of the sticker is clear so i didn't notice it at first.
