ok i said i was going to leave. but i will after this. i want to leave it like this.
i only pointing out the negative sides to your car. thats its. have you never watched a car review before ? they have negative and positive sides to the review. the rx8 is slow in a straight line compared to camaros, mustangs, 370z, STI, cars like that. the rx8 does have very cool sounding engine and is very well balanced car with all some handling. am i really putting the car down ?
just think about that.

@NYCGPS: I too saw a Camaro on the way home from work last night and I thought about this thread. Then I promptly out drove him as he actually wanted to race me along Rt. 16. All the curves n such, he had no chance.
My favorite part was letting him get in front of me right before a curve and watching his brake lights as I then passed him while gaining speed in the curve. He couldn't catch up after that and the billion other curves on that road, then my off ramp came up. I giggled and thought about this very thread again.
Real world driving vs drag racing. I'll take real world please.

Like I said before. the RX8s in Grand Am share nothing in terms of structural chassis design and suspension geometry with a production RX8. The only things off an actual RX8 are the headlights and brake lights. Same goes with the Grand Am Camaros (with the exception of the LSx). If you want to prove a point, at least do it right.

Guy, you know what cracks me up about this thread? We have a completely idiotic troll spewing bullshit on one end. On the other end (RX-8 if you will), we got a few certain members TRYING to prove a point, but at the same time, they are spewing the same moronic bullshit as the idiotic troll. Seriously, it doesn't help one bit. If you are going to make an attempt to argue with a troll, as least post with intelligence and factor in valid points.

Ultimately, I've dealt with a decent number of actual race cars, if you will. Oval track however, but tube frame chassis cars, running very high end engines, completely custom drivetrains, the works, I know the differences. I've built three of the engines myself. Lease engines, so we weren't personally weren't allowed to know who had the engine until after they raced it, in case of favoritism.
No, it wasn't a paid job, but something I could in turn use on my resume, which helps with a real job, obviously.
It's just a blast to have fun with trolls, because you know in the end, they're going to walk away thinking they won, no matter what you do, so I just try to get some lulz in.
Ultimately though, those Rx8's do share a similar engine, which when it comes to the topic of this thread, and considering the other forms of racing using the Renesis engine, they're not a worthless engine.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Star Mazda use a version of the Renesis engine? I haven't looked, how many similarities and differences are in those?

Oh, trust me, I know the car's are completely different. I've been just joking around and having fun, because it's obviously pointless to go in depth with things when it comes to guys like him.

The Star Mazda cars use a 13B-MSP, but that is the only similarity with that and an RX8.

Yes the Star Mazda does use a tuned Renesis engine.

There is almost nothing 13B-MSP in comparison with the GA GT cars. The rotary they were running in the ALMS LMP2 car was a side port 13B-MSP. The GA GT cars use a peripheral-port.

I know that much, they're open wheel cars, a world of difference, but, is it pretty much the exact same engine? Referring to the housings, rotors, and such. Is the intake manifold different or the same? That's what all I'm wondering, is if they're the racing organization closest to using the engine we drive ourselves.

This thread is horrible and entertaining at the same time. This guys lives of his parents and complains about the cost of modding a car when they bought his car... Can we all say that he has probably seen to many Fast and Furious Movies....

I'm talking about the actual basics, of it being a rotary engine, it still shares that, obviously. And ultimately, if you really WANTED to, you could incorporate that into the Rx8 we drive. More than a little pricey, but with the topic being one about putting the Renesis, and ultimately rotaries down, I feel a little reminder of what they're capable of, is necessary.

Even if you do use the argument that the Renesis is used in some sort of racing competition, there are a dime a dozen engines that are also used in some sort of racing competition.
