Just went over to my350z.com, and did a search for RX8...
I just shot over to www.my350z.com , and did a key search to get some perspective of 350Z owners on the RX-8. Needless to say, they badmouthed the hell out of the car. The majority think it is one of the slowest sports cars on the road, but they do agree the handling is one of the best.
I don't think many of them even consider the RX-8 a competitor to the Z, and put the 8 a step below. I find this odd, because I don't think I've ever read a review regarding the Z and the 8 where the 8 didn't score higher.
That's what I like the most about this forum.....no blinding bias towards the 8. It seems that a lot of Z drivers are so obsessed with their vehicles that anything "slower" is less of a sports car. Here, a lot of posters compliment the 8, but give other cars credit for what they can do (S2K for good handling, 350Z for vicious speed, etc).
I personally am extremely happy with the 8, performance numbers aside. And even relating to the performance, top gear recently did a test of the BMW M3, 350Z and 8, with all 3 have identical track runs.
What do you guys think the perception of the 8 regarding other sports car drivers is? I'm just curious if it's only 350Z drivers who think our cars is a step down, or if it extends further.

Somewhat....only had my 8 for a couple of months now. I'm surprised at the negativity of owners of competitve cars in comparison with the 8. I just wanted to comment on it, is all.....if you want to shut down the thread, go ahead.

I also saw quotes like this:
But I don't see the big deal. If they really liked the 8, they'd own one and be posting here instead of on the Z forum.
In the end competition and variety are good things. If all Z owners bought RX-8's, we'd be just as bland as the Mustangs.
the evo and neon are not even in the same league with the Z

sorry to say theres a higher porportion of ignorant fanboys over there than here. but there are a lot of mature people too that appreciate the rx8. rx8 dosnt have a strong rep in most of the car forums, so you just gotta live with it. just know that true enthusiasts appreciate rx8 for what it does well. the little kids are the ones that live by the 1/4 mile yet cant drive worth a damn them selves.

Also, did anyone notice the new Need for Speed: Carbon RX8? It's located in Tier 1 with a price tag of $25,000. In comparison, the new Eclipse GT, Mustang GT and 350 are all Tier 2 and 3 with a price tag above $50,000. I thought that was a bit of a knock on the 8 as well.

Comparing the two cars are like apples and oranges (in that oranges are a bit faster). The RX8 is a very different sports car! I think that's why folks (who own it) love it so much. It is the crossover vehicle that does it all very well. Maybe the comparisons would be more valid if it were more of a typical sports car with no passenger ability and a glove box for a trunk. The only reason people even make comparisons is because it is the only comparably priced similar vehicle.

in the last NFS, I thought the best car in the game was the RX-8?
Doesn't matter. Stock the car is now no faster than the new Civic, something that doesn't exactly give you something to brag about.
Just save up and put in a big turbo kit and laugh at them when they mock your 8.

are you talking about in the game or real life?
Nah, I like the car as it is. No other car in the world (including exotics) has the per liter output of the Renesis. I like the fact that it's NA.

Funny. My good friend drives a 350Z. We trade cars all the time for our weekly runs. I like them both. And really, who cares what they think of my car. I bought it to impress ME.
