Kick the door

Some young dick kicked the driver's side freestyle door on my 2005 brilliant black 8. I can see the tread pattern on his goddamn Vans and unfortunatley he's creased the skin. The metal is bent a tiny bit.

Obviously you can't go to insurance on this...not worth the increase, right? It happened in a public parking lot and of course they deny anything.....they blame it on the many drunks who pour out of Toronto's many lake cruisers.

So do you eat the **** and pay for the repair or start a CSI investigation and nail the Tony Hawk wannabe who hates the 8?

What would you do when somebody stamps on your ride? Especially when you know the tread pattern on the running shoe screams "kid"?

Shitty deal man. Get an estimate and go from there. I might put something like that through insurance depending on cost.

Where did this happen in TO? Some schmuk was sitting on the trunk of my car this weekend when I came back from wakestock chatting with all his freinds who owned the car beside me. No respect.

that's very unfortunate. damn kids. get an estimate. if it is not much more than your deductible then take the hit. if the difference is substantial then talk to your agent and see how your insurance company will handle such claims. some insurance companies won't penalize you for something like this.

OMFG BlueEyes I fear the day that happens to me.. what did you do?

Miker if you talked to the owner of the kid (they are obviously not parents since they have ******* kids like that), I would of tried to convince them if they dont hand over some info you'd call the cops. With me at times I can talk a damn good game and whatever comes outa my mouth seems to be spoken law at times (scary at times though how stupid people can be). Get a estimate I say and wieght your options, report to insurance or pay for it yourself.

Yes go find out how much the cost of repair will be.

Insurance may pay for it if it's worth you repairing it.

By the way aren't we suppose to play kick the can?

Take pictures, call cops - this means where will be a report and may help insurance company respond - especially if they think they can get it back from the kids folks - they probably have some sort of insurance

Dent may begin to mend - leave overnight, sometimes a warm hair dryer applied to the back of the dent will help it pop back into place - sometimes the plastic has a kind of memory and can normalize.

Check with dealer and body shop - may be cheaper to replace whole door than try to remove dents - get some estimates - bring them with you when you check with your insurance company - hope you got comprehensive new car type insurance. My company (Allstate) covers damage even when it's caused by mice!

Depending on how bad the dent is, you might try one of those paintless dent places. I bought my used 8 about a month ago and it had about 6 dor dings including one with a pretty good crease. The door ding place I went to did a great job...you can't even tell. Give it a shot.

Uh-oh. Now you are starting to act like me. LOL

If I could figure out a way to do that, I would be saving up all my pennies.

Maybe I'm just a little too paranoid?

I will be the first to predict that Bunnygirl will have somebody kick the door of her car in less than a week, so she can start a thread and bitch about it to everyone.

Then I can post in her thread that nobody with a brain cares.

Thanks

Blue Eyes, it was a staff cruise on Queens Quay East. Yankee Lady IV launch site, about a five minute walk from the street. Inside job. Some punk intern did the damage. I can't confirm that, but it fits every freaking prejudice I have about young guys who've been drinking for five hours on a boat. They seem something they can't have...they kick it. Completely wrong on my behalf...but I do remember a friend of mine pissing on a supercar he saw in 1983...because he was hammered and middle-class.

It will not work on aluminum and is doubtful on sheet metal. It generally will also "burn" your clear coat and/or crack the paint. I did a google search to find this and essentially it is considered a myth and will not work and in some instances reportedly damages the metal to where it cannot be repaired.

Not true. I had a huge dent on my rear door, and the body shop did a hell of a job with PDR on it. It can be fixed.

You can definitely fix the rear door - didn't C&D or R&T have a long-termer which one of their photographers ripped a chunk in the rear door?

People who can't have what they want are generally going to be petty when alcohol/liquid confidence makes them feel brave. If you know who it is, confront them with the fact that you know they did it, and see what happens. However, people being people, they'll likely deny it. Karma says they'll get what they deserve at some point in their lives.

Maybe you can get some DNA off the car that might have been on the bottom of the sneakers?!
