Killed battery

Killed battery
Always something to learn. After my car had been rear-ended, I stopped driving it Monday, had it sit in the garage waiting for the body shop to have the parts.
Today I noticed the battery is dead.
As I wrote in the other thread, the trunk doesn't close anymore and that tiny bulb actually drained my car's battery in under 6 days.
<shrug>
Good I've got a 2nd car to jumpstart it. The bulb comes out easily too.

Took the light out too. The keys are usually in my pocket and the trunk opener was always getting pressed by coins and whatnot. Newest key has been reprogrammed to prevent this, I understand (longer button press required).

The battery was probably drained in under 24 hours. You just didn't notice for 5 more days. My 8 is my weekend car. The normal parasitic losses will kill the battery in 7 days.

trunk light got me too....
Just got back from a 7 day vacation. Went to start my '05 Shinka and it was dead, dead, dead. Upon further examination the trunk wasn't shut.........
Had it towed to the dealership and am just waiting to hear from them. I miss my car already...........
I am taking out the trunk light as soon as I get it back!!!!!

same problem here guys, whenever i take my car for tune up and if it takes more than two days, the battery dies. It sucks, so i changed the battery and now it works perfect, The Air conditioner also works better, it doesn't blow out hot air while you are on a stop light or idiling.

Alarm system to the rescue?
I locked my RX8 with the alarm tranceiver and it indicated that the trunk was open. I didn't even notice because it was barely up from its normal position!

I've occasionally driven a fair distance with the trunk unlocked. It needs a spring to pop the lid open when it unlocks, so there's no doubt.
