Kinda odd forum we got here....

After visting a few other forums like srt-4 forums, 350Z forums and a bunch of others I noticed that our foum is kind of weird.

We don't have a "Kills" or "Kill Stories" or "War Stories" board. I just found that a little bit funny.

I know STREET racing is stupid, but are Rx8 owners the only smart ones driving out there? :D

But of course we've got a ligitamate competition board. which has 100 times more respect than street racing.

I think the average age of forum members here leads to more mature posts.

Well, the 8 wouldn't fare too well in Kill Stories.

Depends on where the kills are. In street racing, where the smart/aware RX-8 driver doesn't participate? Or on the real race track where we kill all the time! On a road course, I'd take on any of the fools on those boards anytime.

I'm sure I've been posted as a kill at least 10 times on those "boards of idiots" as I'm smart enough to NEVER STREET RACE.

If this board were full of idiots like that and stories like that, I sure as hell wouldn't be here, and I'm sure the majority of us feel the same way.

Thank God this board isn't like that. Instead it's a real resource. Not just a bunch of adolescent liars.

In short...yes.

1. Street racing is illegal, and Dodge has been known to look on the SRT forum and void people's warranties who brag about street racing

2. RX-8 owners are smarter and smell better

3. We just bought a ~30,000 dollar car and don't do stupid things with it

Well, I for one am 33 years old and didn't buy the 8 for a race car or otherwise. Just a little present to myself but it had to be able to take the kids to school and be comfortable for my wife when she rode with me.

This car is just plain old fun...IF I had a powerful car I'd definitely get into trouble. The RX8 has the ultimate package: Rotary and 6speed.

A friend of mine drove my 8 around the block the other day and he couldn't believe how nice it drove compared to his 350Z. His car is just plain bad off the line and he liked the way my engine sounded - like an electric purring under the hood.

Same here, except I'm 36.

I sometimes drive full speed on the autobahn when all conditions are suited (which means on rather rare occasions), but I consider street racing plain nonsense. Cities are full of people, which makes them the worst possible racing ground. Besides that, the oh-so-slow acceleration would put me in withdrawal licence territory within seconds.

Where I really enjoy the cars strenghts on those winding mountain roads in northern Italy ...

I'm not buying number 1. What if I'm lying to make myself look "cool?" What if I'm NOT lying, but I did race a guy stoplight to stoplight? How does that void my warranty? What if there was no other guy there, and I'm just "driving briskly?" Now is that voiding anything? Why not? It just doesn't add up.

Street Racing is dangerous and this forum as well as other responsible forums condone it. There's two things going on here too why we don't have Kills Threads.

1. Street Racing isn't encouraged and majority of our members here are professionals (whatever that means to you)
2. Those who participate in street racing don't usually post here either. Why? Most of the time, RX-8s lost. Or they can't stand getting flamed (see number 1)

This is also the only car forum I have been to that has more members that talk more about their sex life or lack of than the main subject: RX-8. Most of which complain when there's another MPG thread made.

We are also "proof *****" here. If you brag about something, you better have the papers to prove it.

I'm not saying we should have one.

I'm just saying that this forum is more civilized and more focused on what really matters.

Nope.... http://www.nasioc.com (North Amercan Subaru Impreza Owners Club) also do not allow street racing posts. There's a rule on the forum that Street Racing posts are only allowed in Off Topic. If someone posts in any other forum, they just get moved to OT anyways... and then everyone in OT tears the post to shreds. :D

Ie: It gets sent to the wolves. You don't want to face the wrath of NASIOCs OT. Trust me on this one. They are VERY creative. They have found ways to decimate a n00b in 5 easy steps. Also, you know that whole 'Fat kid' photoshop thing that was around last year sometime? Yeah, we (NASIOC) started it

This has happened in several forums- remember the guy with the STi (I think that's what it was) who put aftermarket parts on his car, which subsequently screwed it up and the first dealer he took it too refused to honor the warranty because of it? He took them off, tried a different dealer, and next dealer was going to actually do the work till the guy's posts about removing the aftermarket stuff got into the dealer's ear- now he's got a flag everywhere that his warranty is void. It happens.

Porsche has voided peoples warranty for racing...PORSCHE PEOPLE.
Shigginsrx8 sent me an email with a story about a guy who autocrossed his porsche and sufferend an RMS problem. They produced evidence of his autoX'ing and wouldn't fix his car under warranty. Mucho $$$$$$$$$$.

Great... that's not street racing. Do the same with your car and when Mazda finds out see what happens

RX-8 club is like the millitary, don't ask don't tell, but every once in a while someone drops the soap on purpose I'll agree with KC as well, NASIOC is far more harsh than RX8club is when it comes to street racing, and it's pretty entertaining to watch it unfold.
