Stupid dealerships...both of them... Sounds like you all win, IMO. They will still sell the car and they will STILL get more than they gave you...you got more trade in towards your new ride.....and the other dealership managed to uphold their "*******-ness" as usual. Awesome.

But remember, if you do end up taking that car back you had better beat the hell out of it first.

im still here guys lol. Well this is the first time in a while I have been here. The dealership never contacted me again, so I guess they had nothing to stand up. So, how are the mods for the 8?. Any good FI units out yet apart from the greddy?

How's the GTO running? Are you enjoying it? I'm glad that the dealer finally wised up. There is nothing more annoying than people trying to get what they have absolutely no right to.

the GTO is an awsome machine. It makes power everywhere, the torque is amazing. I still miss the looks of the 8 but my wounds are healing. Thanks for asking

I used to think they did not look so great, but I have learned to love the smooth muscular curves of the car. Then again, looks are biased. Many people tought the rx8 looks frog faced and a is a pansy car. But that did not stop me from buying one.

The SAP (sport appearance package) is a big improvement. Oh, and new wheels please.... the stock ones are awful for a car like that.

Yes, it was never planned to be a long production run. MY06 will be the last GTO based on the Holden Monaro platform.

I have a feeling it will come back w/the Camaro but that hasn't been confirmed. Technically, neither has the Camaro.

I'm glad that you are liking the GTO. I think that GM did a good thing by bringing that car here even if it was a few years too late. I have a friend who bought the 14th GTO ever built, and it was the first convertible. He ordered it as soon as it was announced, and he had it geared long. I saw it once being driven by the guy he sold it to. It was a wonderful car, but the original '64 GTO was the cheapest car Pontiac made (the tempest) with front disc brakes (big thing in '64), stiffened suspension, limited slip differential, and a 389 Cubic Inch high compression V8 with tri-carburetion. On the outside they merely added two hood scoops and a GTO badge. The glitsy trim package was on the LeMans. My friend's GTO would go 140MPH back in the day although he told me that slowing the car took a little planning due to the rear drum brakes. The current GTO is right in keeping with that car including the understated styling. It's pretty cool.

Most likely they will drop the GTO in favor of the Firebird if they share a platform with the Camaro again, and that car would have alot more styling than the GTO did. It would be more in keeping with Firebird badge than the GTO badge.

snizzle got it right on the spot. The production of the new GTO was only planned for 3 years. Haze trust me when I tell you, the firebird will NOT be coming back soon. All day long I read about these things at ls1gto.com and it not gonna happen. The GTO might come back under the Zeta platform along with the new camaro.

oh and snizzle, I already got some nice chrome wheels and dualed out the exhaust along with other appearance mods. The SAP is too much money and is not very notcieable on black GTO's.

Oh and IMH the goat looks ALOT better in person thatn it does in pictures. I think its a great bargain. a V8, beautifull engine rumble and gobs of power, nice looking very confortable interior, IRS and very versatile suspension, and I really like how it looks.

I couldnt have gone wrong. Oh and one more thing, it has been to the dealership exactly once, when I had the 8, hehehe, you get the point.

Wait for the PTP Motorsports turbo kit to come out (it is $7K including HKS fuel management though)., or for a SC application the Axialflow SC or Pettit Racing SC should be very good units.

I'm sure that there are lots of people who think that the GTO label has legs in the modern world, but dismal sales would tend to make one think otherwise, and for GMs marketing, it is easier for them to sell the firebird again. So, we will have to agree to disagree.
