Lease or Buy?

Lease or buy, that is the question. Just curious how many people leased or bought their RX8. If you did buy do you know wish you had leased and vice verse. I usually lease because im very fickle when it comes to cars. It seems like within the 2 or 3 years during my leases I always like the newer version of my lease when it comes out and upgrade to the new one. If I buy the RX8 it will be the first car I bought in over 11 years.

Leasing mine currently, will most likely end the contract early and buy it before the 36 months are up though

Fickle, or short attention span?

Leasing probably makes sense if you change cars every couple of years, or if you want to drive a better car than you can afford. But it does cost you more in the long run.

I always buy cars I can afford, and keep them for a long time.

Leasing would be a better choice if you get bored of cars quickly.

Not to mention these cars' value depreciate very fast so by the time you're into a 2 year period, your loan is probably OVER 5-7 grand of what the car is worth.

Sack it up and buy it. Not having to deal with another monthly expense really really helps! I bought mine straight up and have never looked back...

I leased mine and turned it in about 2 months ago. I switch cars every few years, and was glad that I leased with the resale value. Its up to you, if you want to mod your car I would buy it.

I just liked leasing for one I always have a new car and 2nd I never have to worry about maintenance ( just oil changes). It cost more in the long run but you're paying for a piece of mind. Last car I bought by the time it was paid off I couldnt wait to get a new one. Thus, giving myself a car payment all over a again. I really like the RX8 and think I would enjoy owning it but I know I will want the 2010 or new version more. Hell, if I had the cash to buy it out right I would. Then again if I had that kind of cash I probably wouldnt be driving a RX8. I would get a Lotus.

You can always end the contract for the lease early and buy it for the remaining amount

You could get a great deal buying it cause the rebates are higher. Plus if you lease you cannot do it anything to it and you must return it mint condition. If it's somewhat beat up it's coming out of your pocket..

A lot of people on here buy because they can get used 8s for cheap thanks to the quick depreciation. If you are going new leasing is a good idea, but buying isn't so bad if you plan on keeping the car for a long time.

I'd buy if you want to mod and do crap to it, otherwise just lease it I guess.. Then again, you could always keep it afterwards when leasing.. So it's the best of 2 worlds!

ah, I'm lost..

I'd suggest buying used, maybe a 2006-2007. That way you avoid most of the depreciation hit from buying new. And if you get tired of it in 1-2 years you can sell it private party and you'll probably be more or less even on your loan (if you decide to finance). You'd probably end up paying the same (or less) than if you leased, without all the stupid bullshit rules and fine-print fees that get imposed on you (******* mileage limits, only "wear & tear" allowed). I'll take a damn road trip cross-country and put on 5000 miles in a month if I feel like it!!
