Lease Returns??? Noob Question !!!

I am currently in a lease for my RX8 and my lease is up in Aug. Since this is my very first least I do not know what to expect when I go to turn it in. I am well under my miles but I do have some scratches. I am curious about what happens and what they may try to charge me for.

I did have a GM Smart Buy once and I just took it in and they did a quick walk around and that was it. They took the keys and I went home. They even sent us a refund on the unused miles.

I have read over the internet that this will not happen on a regular lease, I mean the miles refund.

I wondering if I should have those scratches repaired or not. I have already replace the tires because I know that is one of the items they will check. What else do I need to know?

I think the limit is usually the size of a quarter for dings, and I want to say the size of a business (or credit) card for scratches. I may be wrong, but that's what I recall seeing on my girlfriend's lease return packet.

A scratch here and there will not get you in trouble . I've turn in 3 cars and never had and issue . Now thats beed with Honda , I don't think It will be much difference.

also I think you will receive a refund for any un-used miles. I remember a forum member on here talking about that once a while back. I believe it was 5 cents per un-used mile that you return.

All 'wearables' must be at least 50% left. (tires, brake pads, winshield wipers)

But mazda is very good with 'normal wear and tear', they let you get away with a couple scratches, a door ding (tiny dings) and even a stitch or two missing on the upholstery.

Dont worry, you are not walking in to a loions den.

If they can re-sell it easily (low miles, nothing bad on the body), they'll probably give you a pass.

I have no dings, good tires, good brake pads, new wipers, no interior problems. I just have a few scratches on the rear bumper, those are not just slight scratched but by no means horrible and then just a paint scuff above one of the front wheel well, again not horrible.

Just wash it first. You'll be fine. I sold cars for a bit. We took in some beat up looking lease trades without question. And my dealership was one to stick it to ya, if you know what I mean.

you can always hit the scratches with a 'scratch x' type of product, too.

Nope, I am moving on to something different. I normally change cars every 3 - 4 years. You would have thought I would have leased before but this was my first.

I think they overlook the wear and tear of a vehicle depends on the scratches though....I think u will b fine unless they are pretty bad/deep....as the miles go I am pretty sure they won't give u a refund for the unused...
