Lease Vs. Buy

I'm looking at getting an RX-8 in the next 6 months. I plan on autocrossing and rallycrossing it. I am worried about the maintenance issues and stressing the car too much doing these things as an owner. I would also have to be buying a car that is already used (around 25,000 miles) in order to fit my budget. Would leasing a new car for 48-60months with a good warranty be the best option for racing? I'm going to keep it all stock and run the BS class autox and SR rallyx. Has anybody had any previous experience with this?

Thanks,

Russell

last time i checked lease deals on rx8s they weren't all that great.

if you want an RX8, i think the best bang/buck is to find a low mielage used one and lowball the seller. you could find a nice 06 in the high teens. you can get a new sport for 20k...with current incentives...

the rx8 depreciates a lot, which makes it less attractive to lease.

Hmm... wouldn't a car that depreciates a lot be a better car to lease...?

The value of the car at the end of the lease would be lower and hence you have to pay more for the car's value in your lease payments.
So if the car costs 30K and depreciates to 10K after 4 years, then your lease payments are paying for the other 20K. But if the car depreciates less, say to 20K, then your payments are for the value of the 10K.
