LEAVE ROTARIES ALONE! hahahah
Soo i decided after soo many time my buddies who are Honda junkies talking down on my rotary engine because its different, ive decided to make this thread...
the occasional:
-Oh its a Honda it can take that abuse
-Oh its reliable
-Oh your engine gonna go poof its a mazda/ rotary
etc etc etc we all know what people say about our cars.
Anyways My first motor when bad at around 60K miles The car over heated in 105 degre weather! and the car didnt run rigth for about another 2 months until meeting its end!
anyways they were all on me saying i told you it would blow up... now i drove my car like the car was ment to be driven.. no doubt about that! But i always maintained it, seviced it.
This morning i get a phone call from one of my honda buddies that his 2007 Honda civic SI with 40K on the ODO that his motor blew up last night while taking a turn...
He said his "Timing" chain broke and that it caused his motor to be damaged and that he would need a new motor.. but he believes that honda would not cover it, because they are crappy at customer service.. That when he took the car with 10K miles for syncro problems they declined his warranty work and ruled it abuse.

they are really harsh with warranty work on the civic si. now if you're an old lady with a civic ex, they wont even mention abuse. but they have to be harsh, with all the fast & furious ricers with civics. so if you're young and have a civic si, dont even think you have a warranty.
i did not know timing chains could break. but if it did break, it would definitely **** up his engine. his valves would go out of rhythm and they would hit his pistons and he would have bent valve stems and dented pistons.

Yeah the chain messed up i mean apologies hehehe.. he doesnt know how it broke.. it just broke.. oil is splattered all over the engine bay and whenever he tries to crank it it cranks over but REALLY abnormally fast

Yeah tell me about it hahahaha.. the only problem hes had was transmission issues, and a 3rd gear recall that required transmission over haul. his second gear was shot and the didnt cover it.. he has to pay like 2500 for second gear replacement @ only 10k miles.. He said he would never buy a new honda ever again.. and in all honesty i think hes re thinking honda motors USA in general. Hopefully his warranty will cover it.

and for $2500 he should have just bought a used transmission.

Yea but go on a civic forum and post you got 100k on your original engine and see if anyone gets all excited......
anyone that would try and start it after they know the timing chain is busted likely abused it to start with.

Yep, I call BS. Call them what you will but the motors are bullet proof. There is no doubt our engines are far from bullet proof.

Motors go. All brands of motors, from every make. Some go more often or more quickly than others. It's not out of the realm of possibility that a Honda motor broke before 100k. I wouldn't take that as "proof" of anything or connect it in any way to the reliability of our motors. Some people have tons of problems with the Renesis. Others don't have any problems at all. Among those of us without problems, we do have to spend more effort taking care of them to keep it that way.

The white one is the one with the blown motor.. and the red one is from another one of my friends.. its pretty quick.. that one i think pushed 210 to the wheels and 165 TQ.
