Well, the day finally came. This past week I let my 2010 RX8 go and traded it in for a 2010 Saab 9-3. I didn't want to get rid of it. I had it for 4.5 years. I bought it with a little under 40,000 mi on it and it had 98,000 when I let it go. It wasn't supposed to be my daily driver. It was going to be a fun weekend car. But when the daily died it became that daily driver. I loved that car, faults and all. It was my dream car since the day I first saw one in the early 2000's and was lucky enough for my dream to come true. It made every morning and afternoon drive to work so much more enjoyable on the back roads. Unfortunately, having 2 small kids in car seats means its a tight fit for everyone, and a claustrophobic wife meant we didn't all go in it very often. Then my work moved buildings to an even more rural area than it already is in. Winters in West Michigan though can dump a lot of snow, and I needed something with AWD to be able to get to work and back, as well as haul everyone in comfortably. It also gets vastly better MPG.
I am going to miss the noise. I am going to miss that distinctive exhaust note. I am going to miss the sound of the beep at red line, and laughing at 35mph corner signs as I swept through at 65mph. It was the most reliable car I have ever owned. So long Zero, I hope you end up in a good home.
