Leg Room?

Leg Room?
Why do I get the distinct impression that the 8 has just a little bit less leg room (up front) than my 99 Miata?
The RX-8 web site says it has 42.7" up front and my 99 Miata specs say 42.8".
Anyone know how they measure this in a car that actually has a back seat? Do they just choose a neutral seat position and measure or what? The number seems a bit misleading. I mean I would sure hope my 8 has more leg room up from than my Miata.

The goal for me is just to lose excess weight and tone up when I start playing tennis again. Very easy diet too, and you eat all the fat you want!

Preciate it
By the way one tip I found that works well for me.. if you're eating OUT, like fast food....
Find a Boston Market. Order Grilled chicken with a side of soup and green beans.
You get something like 4 carbs per that meal and it's REALLY filling. I've stopped eating McDonalds and Wendys and all the rest pretty much altogether but I admit.... I take Sundays 'off' the diet else I'd lose my sanity rather quickly. I love orange juice and pasta so I need my fix once a week!

aaaaaanyways, good work on the diets guys, but the car??
(jk, i had to lose a 10lb film of holiday fat a few months ago... good work fellahs)
wow, only 43" for BOTH?? eek... answer me this, you owners of Miatas: are the seats at all adjustable?? i mean, is 43" all the way back??
'cause, with the RX-8 as a four person car, the front leg room measurements are taken with the back leg room numbers too (like, at a single position, the back has yea much, and the front has yea much), thus leaving room behind the front seats to roll back to give you more, yes??

I am not sure what to make of any of these interior diamension numbers.
I do know this:
The S2000 is listed (Edmunds) at 44" front leg room. I am 6'3" and could not sit in the vehicle with enough leg room to actually use the clutch.
The RX-8 (you say is listed at 42.7") and I had no trouble sitting in the front seat (or back seats).
I am not sure how they measure these stats but something seems funny. My Volvo (960 - the big one) is listed at 41" front leg room?

Seat Hight
I think that the one number that is being tossed around doesn't take into account of the seat heights, etc. If the seat is a little higher, then the leg is angled more, and it would not take as much distance to accomidate the same leg as if the seat is directly on the floor.
If you look at the full specs for the RX-8 (this is from the printable specs and features off of the RX-8 site):
Head Room
Front without sunroof (in) 38.2
Front with sunroof (in.) 36.7
Rear without sunroof (in) 36.8
Rear with sunroof (in) 36.5
Leg Room
Front (in) 42.7
Rear (in) 32.2
Knee Clearance
Rear (in) TBD
Shoulder Room
Front (in) 54.9
Rear (in) 54.9
Hip Room
Front (in) 53.4
Rear (in) 48.1
Hip Point
Front (front height from floor) 7.9
Rear (rear height from floor) 10.8
The Hip Point shows that the back seats are about 3 inches higher than the front seats. The Leg Room is 10 inches shorter in the rear than in the front, but all of the reviews say that there is sufficient leg room for at least normally sized adults.
If anyone has specs from the other cars that show this info, then we may have some good ideas on how it all compares.
