Actually seeing the targa top on a Supra is what sold me on the idea. I agree that it would be really sweet!

ok if it turns out to the look like the above pic with the 7 and 8 combined...i would say.....YES! but i think the above photo of the convertible 8 just looks like a solara with an 8 front...dont like it at all..but i have to agree with others that i bought the car based on its functionality...and i havent had problems using my rear doors..the rear doors and the rotary won it over for me..i was looking at a 350 and a s2000..glad i didnt get either especially the s2000

I don't care much about the doors, but they are more convenient than 2, but less than 4. If I wanted 2 seats, I would have boughten a Z or S2K.

I actually like the pic of that 8 convertible... the 7 and 8 combined coupe's back window looks off but other than that I think it's pretty good looking.

And to people saying they would have bought an s2k or a Z if the 8 only had 2 doors... c'mon! I see the s2k and Z bashing on this board every day. We all know the 8 is better no matter how many doors it has*.

I don't bash those cars. I've driven both (my brother has a Z) and they are both a lot of fun, but I actually like to have passengers at times

I like the RX8 styling as is. It's kinda unique, with its rotary engine, 4 doors, 50/50 weight distribution, semi-practical for most of what you need to do daily, and etc.
But, I still think the RX-7's styling can beat all of other cars (except for the limited production exotics) during its production years.

I bought my 8 because it had many things that appealed to me. Some of those things include the doors, styling and engine. I enjoy the fact that it's different in many ways from run-of-the-mill cars, and don't see one every 30 seconds.

If it would bring the weight of the car down to around 2700, I'd say coupe FTMFW!! Then again, I don't have kids requiring back seats.

The only reason I could see to have 2 doors/2 seats instead of 4/4 would be for less weight. I don't think, however, the weight reduction would be very significant. I also think the car handles beautifully and is very balanced. The weight reduction would go a long way toward acceleration, though. So I think what it really needs is a few more hp, while staying NA.
