license plate and screws

When I bought my rx8, there is no plate/plate frame both at the back and front of the car.

now i got my plate, i wish to install them but found out I need to get some screws for it.

Should the car come with these screws? If that's the case i've gotta call the dealer tom.

I'm in MI, so no front plate necessary, just back plate

Talk with your dealer. They should have provided the frame and the screw. Mine came with a frame and screw set in the trunk.

Go to Ebay and search for frames. You can get an awesome frame for about $10. I believe that advertizing for the dealer is lame. They should give you something for it, but they don't. Throw away their plastic frame and get a cool stainless one with an RX-8 logo. And... peel off their lame sticker advertizing their dealership, too!!

Yeah, like one of these!

But seriously- the dealer should provide fasteners for the back, and frame+fasteners for the front if needed in your state.

ya here in nevada only rear plates are neccesary. I'm glad to because the front plate makes it look so dumb...it takes away from its appearance.

Yes...the car should have the screws...and make sure they are the right ones! My dealer jammed some huge self-tapping screws into the machine-threaded blindnuts in the rear (sounds nasty doesn't it?). Really buggered up the threads.

To clarify: the pre-delivery kit that comes with the car includes the front plate bracket and the bolts&screws to mount the bracket to the car. The dealership has to provide the necessary bolts to mount the plates to the trunk and the front bracket (if used).

If you have to mount the front license plate use the mouning tip located here: http://www.finishlineperformance.com...ocs/index.html

If you don't have the screws, go to you local hardware store and get some metric sized Hex Cap Screws: M6-1.0 X 12mm. If you can find the 20mm ones then that's better. Or go to your dealer and have them do it.

I run only a back plate even though the law says I need a front one here. Normally as long as you don't get stopped for some other citation, they won't stop you for the plate only. And I also don't believe in free advertising. I took off the dealers frame and run my plate naked right now. If I find something later I may put one on but for now bare is fine with me.

yeah, mine already had a plate frame (ugly plastic crappy dealership frame) and screws installed. i removed that right when i got it home. removed the dealership badge as well. i also had the front plate mounting kit in the trunk. boy am i glad i dont need that! your dealership will give you screws since they probably should have been on the car already. or you can go to http://www.autoattire.com/mazdaframes.html and order a frame like i did. there are a few to choose from. see the "choose name" drop down menu. oh... and they come with screws and screw covers that match! good luck!

Exactly! I took the rear temp plate off the day I got it home and put it in the frame of my choosing. Also, some dealerships put a sticker on advertising their business, and in that situation, it comes off at the very first oportunity. Now if they were to give me a real deal...but NOT here in middle of Illinois, they act like they are doing you a favor selling you a car. You're not worthy....HA

Same here... it was warm out when I bought our last Explorer and I peeled off the dealer sticker in front of them when I picked it up... I told them I charge for advertising. It was too cold with the RX-8 though- I had to get a hair dryer out and warm the thing up to get it off a couple days later.

It always amazes me how people pay big $$ for a car and drive around for years advertising for the dealer with stickers, emblems and ugly license plate frames.

I tell the dealership I will refuse to accept delivery of the car if it has a dealership sticker on it...and they know I am not kidding.

There is no way I am providing them free advertising - not when I am paying significant dollars for the billboard.

The dealer's license plate frame? That I can rip off myself...and I rip real fast once I get home. Mustn't get to hostile at the dealer you know.

I'm happy to wear a Mazda South plate frame - they've always been great to us - but I draw the line at stickers or decals.

I told the dealer no dealer stickers on my car and I just took off their back frame and put a nice RX 8 silver one on...big difference!! I like those rotary RX 8 bolts though!
