The first time that happens, I don't want to think either a) I made a $33k mistake (fill in whatever dollar amount if I'm off), or b) how much money is it going to take not to let that happen again? I'd rather buy the right car in the 1st place. My next best option *may* be a C6 Corvette (used) in a year or two. 400 lb-ft of torque down at what 4.4k at only 100 lbs or so more weight than an RX-8 is going to stomp an RX. I'd rather spend more money and get the right car. Am I wrong?

If you want to drag-race Corvettes then the RX-8 is probably not the car for you. On a twisty road, the results might surprise you and that's where the "punk in a 5.0" will be in the weeds before the RX-8 breaks a sweat. -- Hypothetically, or course

But if your criterion for a successful car purchase is never losing a street race, you may want to re-think things.

Nubo is right.. The 8 lacks in the torque department.. It is a fun car, but my next will have big torque.

I admit as well that I have another vehicle other than the 8. I usually drive the 8 but when it rains hard I dont, mainly because where I live, the parkway gets flooded easily. Just not worth the risk. Plus I like to give my baby a break every once and awhile. Everyone needs some rest and relaxation. lol! Remember that it is classified as a sports car!

That's pretty funny! I drive my 8 exclusively when it rains-- my other vehicle is a motorcycle.

Thanks, shinka213. How old are you, by the way. I'm curious to know what constitutes "too old" for a cycle.

My motorcycle has sadly been in the shop all spring and summer. Normally this would have had me going bonkers, but having the shinka to play with has made it just a nuissance.

Hey Krankor

Women generally dont like to reveal their age especially if they are older....but I would probably say that I'm old enough to be your mother!! :D

im not saying anything bad, i just plain dont like that color that much or the interior, which is the reason why i didnt get the shinka, NY is nasty in the winter and that interior would be a headache more than lookin good, i drove all the colors cause a friend worked on the dealer and i just wanted to see in which color i looked better :D :D but when you see all the colors in front of you thats when you know which is better and there is no car in the world that doesnt look amazing in red. shinka color is nice but it blends easy with every other color like the rest except yellow. but yellow gets tiring after a while.

Whaaaa? What world do you live in?

I'd take my 8 over most of the cars on the road in any sort of weather (even snow, as long as I have the appropriate tires).

Just shows diff strokes for diff folks. I'm in Illinois and we get winter too, but I chose the Shinka because I didn't want a black interior. It's too hot in the summer and in the winter I have heated seats. :o

As seen on a t-shirt at a Shelby event:

"Drive it, otherwise it is just really expensive furniture."

The exterior color of the Shinka does nothing for me - and is even a base Miata color, but to each his or her own.
