In what way did that constitute "not to ressurect [sic] an old thread"? Smells like apophsis to me...

I'm a new 8 owner and as the powers that be would have it...I was blessed with the lightning yellow from the show room floor. And the one thing I've noticed more than anything else the heads turning and necks snapping to catch of glimps my idea of perfection.....

Just say it with me...."L-I-G-H-T-nin'...Yellow...LMAO!!!!!!

Whoever said "a yellow rx8 gets bugs and a black rx8 gets chicks" is totally wrong. As a girl I can tell you lighting yellows are oooh soooo sexy. Especially at night if you have HIDs. I love my hubby's car! It is exotic looking!

One of my parents next door neighbors has a LY. I'm always hoping it is parked outside so I can look at it. I see so few of them.

PS. Talk about an old thread.

I believe the yellow inverts the speed of the vehicle. Let me explain:

I have been pulled over six times in the three years I have had my yellow 8. Three times I received a ticket for speeding, each time was doing somewhere between 75-80 in a 60-65 zone. Three times I did not receive a ticket, I was doing 100-110 in a 60-65. Those three times the cop pulling me over just said, "Please slow down, I wouldn't want you to hurt such a nice looking car as this."

Oh, and the bug attraction...definitely true, thought it was just me or the area I lived in.

VERY COOL! I love that someone dredged up my old thread! Just for that, here's a photo - my RX-8 on a fall afternoon - orange leaves, golden sunshine, brilliant yellow and freshly waxed!

You never forget why you fall in love ...

And I thought it was just me all this time! I've had my LY for about 6 months now, and every day I'm in it someone compliments me on it or asks me about it. My neighbor asked about it this morning on the way to work cause he wants one now. This afternoon, a gentleman and his wife waited in the parking lot for me to catch up to them going into the store to ask me how I like my 8 because he has one too. I even had a UPS truck driver stop 5 car lengths from a red light in morning rush hour to ask how I like the rotary engine.

Best of all, when my little boy was learning his colors, he'd always say "It's lellow like your car daddy!" for yellow. He loves it almost as much as I do!

That is classic. I had the same thing with my old blue car.

Awhile back, when my oldest son (who starts driver's ed next month ... AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!) was 2 or so, I had a red Acura Integra GSR that I had modded up a bit (back in the day before mods were the thing to do - now that they are the thing to do, no mods for me. I'm such a trendsetter) - and I would autocross and track day it - my son LOVED to come watch me run it on the track. He called it "daddy's wed wed wacecar"

Either way, I'll take the compliment!

I was. One of the great things about the 8 is that it does not need to be modded to be nice. To me a clean stock 8 is a thing of beauty. With that being said, I can't wait to start modding mine.

yellow RX8's are awesome. The only other RX8 i see in my neighborhood is a guy who has a LY one with black wheels...its like a wicked looking bumblebee. I love it.

Hottest yellow car i have seen is an old friends 1990 (i think) LOTUS ESPRIT. NOw that car attracted alot of attention.

oh I know this is off subject but reason 125,652,389,034 the the RX8 is on of the best sports cars is that me and my husband have 2 babies and we can carry them both with us!!! plus the look on peoples faces when you open the back doors and pull a 18mo old and a 6 mo old out of the back is priceless. oh and about the kid thing Xander(18mo) he is determined to drive daddy's car he even tries to shift. Oh yeah, all back seats should come out like the RX8 back seats cause that makes it so easy to clean up crumbs pop out, dump, & pop in

I find that along with bugs, my car attracts other yellow 8s ... not that I see alot of them. There is one guy around me who has one, and I see him about once a month. He once pulled into a lot that I was parked in to check my car out. I saw him pulling back into the street and thought that someone was stealing my car. I nearly had a heart attack.

My favorite comment that I have gotten more than once: "Yellow, my daughter would love it, but my wife would never let me have it." If your wife is telling you what color your car should be, then you should probably hang yourself.

Great for finding the car in a lot; I love that thrill I get seeing another on the road; yellow 8 drivers actually wave back; with dark wheels it's the coolest thing in six states.

FYI if you don't wash the LY in 6 months it stops attracting bugs. This thread has motivated me to wash the doggonne car!

Other cars that look great in yellow:

Any Ferrari
Any Lambo
Miata (although the yellow is too "gold" for my taste)
Corvette

Cars that look like crap in Yellow:

- Mustang
- Celica

Anything other than an RX-8

Or course this is MY OPINION - feel free to disagree. Just don't call me a dick or a fat bastard.

Personally, I'm just glad to have a car in a COLOR, not just some other version Beige Moderne.

I went to the Vehicle Preparation Center for Mercedes Benz a few weeks ago, and I saw thousands of Mercedeses waiting at the port for delivery. With only two visible exceptions they were Silver, Black, White, another Silver, and a metallic beige. It was the most boring parking lot that I have ever seen from the aspect of color.

The colors on the 8 are all better than that.

It's been over 2 years since I've owned the yellow, and I still haven't gotten a ticket in it yet. On the other hand when I used to have the titanium gray 8, I had tickets up the ***. Weird

LOL So true! Mine are 2 (3 in July) and 5, and whenever we go shopping, people are not only amazed that I fit so much in the trunk ($350 worth of **** from Wal-Mart), but that the rear doors pop open, and even better, my kids can open them on their own!

Another thing for the kids that I like is that in a parking lot, you can open both doors on each side and have a little safety net so they can't run off or get snatched up while you're trying to collect theit things.

My kids always ask to go to the trac to see drag and drift. My little boy even knows how to drift his Hot Wheels! LOL They're gonna start watching Initial D soon LMAO!

Got a bit carried away with PS.

Why do any/all BMW owners seem to have hate on for RX-8's, or mine anyway? A threat to 'superior Teutonic engineering'?

They can't accept the fact that we have more fun than they do at a significantly lower price.
