the 13b in the cosmo is more similar to the 13b in the FC ( I have taken them apart), diferent intake diferen turbo and larger intake ports but the rest is almost identical to the older 13b, the 13b-rew have completly diferen electronics and a lot of internal parts are diferent.

Hmm, that's interesting. The 13B available in the Eunos Cosmo in 1990 was designated 13B-REW. There was a 13B(AP) in the Mk2 Cosmo (75-80) and a 13B in the Mk3(81-90). But I was pretty sure that the Mk4 Cosmo's 13B-REW is identical to the FD3S's 13B-REW?

it was intended to be harsh- it sounded liek he said "it was too tough for us to figure out quickly so we decided to throw in something we were familiar with".

it is very diferent I think is an evolutionary step from the 13b in the fc to the 13b-rew in the fd, but Im no expert, guitarjunkie or RG can give you a bether idea.

all of this parts are diferent:
- intake manifold
- turbos
- intercooler
- intake ports( are much larger)
- ignition coils ( very similar to the fcs)
- water pump
- exaust ports (are smaller)
- exaust manifold
- engine suports
- oil pan
- etc.

I have one of this cosmo engines at home as well as a REW apart and a 20b

I havn't seen an outboard, but I have seen 13B's converted for marine inboard or I/O use. There was one at a boat show in Kenosha, WI about 2 yrs ago. It was ment for use as a repower. Going from memory it was about 180-200 hp N/A.

I used to work at atkins and had a chance to take the lawn mower out for a spin a few times. if you snap the throttle too fast, it does wheelies!

Its also only a single rotor 13B, runs on popane. its fast though!

We needed something that can get the power down and not deal with things breaking.

On top of that, we mainly do suspension, and exhaust parts, not engine tuning. We aren't in the market to make a turbo kit or a supercharger for the Renesis. We just wanted a powerful, great handling, and good looking RX-8 that can break time records and win drift events. It should be out in full force within the fall/winter time. :D

exactly my point- couldnt take the time to do something with the renesis which would actually benefit the community. you dont have tuners there i can understand that to a degree. if you break it you are out alot of time and money. you want to promote your suspension etc. but you should have just gone out with the stock engine then. you still could have showcased your suspension. but now your car is saying "dont buy this car cause' you cant get power out of it without changing the engine" which discourages people from buying it which decreases your customer base for the parts you are trying to sell.

You couldnt have partnered with greddy or petit for a Turbo or Sc. you could have worked out a deal where you pay part of their price and then advertise them on your car. Petit im sure would have been happy to have the developement dollars and you would have your faster 8 and helped other 8 owners by helping to get an FI option on the market.

Like Acosta- they swapped an engine also and they promote how fast their rx-8 is- but how many people have 60k around for swapping a 20b in?

anyway thats just my opinion

I completely agree. JIC will not get any credit for this car. Just look at what happened to acosta's 20b 8, got lots of publicity at first but no street cred. The fact is, the renesis has loads of potential but the aftermarket just waits for the owners to do the r&d and it should be the other way around.
