lil second thought
hi, new member, i'm a big fan of rx-8, i know it's a fairly underpowered car compare to the compitions, but i really like the engine and the design, also its 3k lb weight.
I like to go out at midnight and drifit around (friend's cars S14 and a STI) the blocks until i see someone turn on their house lights... then gota run... anyways.
I'm only 18yr old have a decent part time job making 400 a month and going through university right now(tuition is covered). I'm thinking of buying a rx-8 for myself, (after saving for 4yrs) plus some funding from my parents.. I find that i perfer quick car, not really powerfull one, something like a rx8 (4seater, backseat baby .... use for road trip with friends ofcourse...)
I'm definialy gonna mod the suspension and brakes first and some awsome exterior designs. but the "power" that is really worrying me, the hp is alright (love the rpm) but the torque just doesn't cut it, i need those rear wheels to launch away from the corners. Does the Gdy turbo kit really give me that boost? (read the whole installling fourm, many problems eh)
sry so long.. anyways right now i'm not sure if i want to go for this car
p.s Hows the insurence and millage(after turbo..nvm... drifting takes a lot of gas anyways)+mantanese on the car?

so that was you drifting in my neighborhood??? i'm gonna git you sucka...
get the 350Z man, easier to drift. better yet, get a 1989 Nissan 240SX, drop an SR20DET motor in it, send the stock wire harness out + $100 and get it extended, koyo aluminum radiator, hoses, boost controller, kaaz 1.5 lsd. cheaper and easier to drift. plus, you won't regret messing up a brand new car. RX8 is not for you man, trust me...drifters like you deserve more than a torque-less car like the 8. it's even got a really weak e-brake, you'll want a car with a strong e-brake for those tight corner drifts. the 8 has a "weak" throw-out bearing, you'll need a car with a strong throw-out bearing so you can do those massive clutch kicks to get the car side ways. it's the most used technique (you should know this). do yourself a favor and get a real drift car like the Nissans. TRUST ME...you'll regret getting the 8 for a drift car. yea man...i'm fershizzlerious. i'm a student at a university too and making around $300 a month isn't easy with this 8. i can't afford to get drifting tires and getting tickets from the po po when i get caught drifting in quiet neighborhoods and crashing into curbs/poles/trees/mailboxes/lawn ornaments/fire hydrants/fences/dog houses. i shouldve gotten a serious drift machine, cause that's all i do around midnight when i'm done my studying and homework.
so yea...don't get the RX8 man...you definately seem like the 350Z drifter style driver.

you obviously know nothing about drifting... as its very important to setup the suspension properly to make the back end come and stay there easier...
hes looking for some honest advice.. give him a break...
yes drifting isn't faster than grip driving... its for show and style... and its been getting big...
you should try some time... might ease some of that stress...
