Limp Mode?

Okay so i was leaving work today and everything seemed fine. I jumped on the freeway redlined my car(04 mt) on the onramp like always and today i was kinda driving it harder than usuall. I was going like 70mph and i droppped it into third a couple of times and took it up to like 80 to 85 ish, again everything was fine.then i got of the freeway and started to drive to the basketball court where a couple buddies were waiting for me. So i finally get there and i get out and turn my car off and go play for an easy 2 hours. We finish the last game and i head towards my car i jump in it and turn it on but as soon as i do the check engine light comes on. I turned the car off and turn it back on thinking that it may just be a glitch or somthing but nope its still there and i start to drive home but my car wouldnt accelerate any faster than 19 mph and it wont go past 3500 to rpm. I limp it home and there it sits. I will be taking it to mazda tomorrow to see what they say. But maybe this has happened to you or some of the gurus might be able to let me know whats up with my baby. any info will help....my car is a 6 speed 2004 bone stock with 51000 miles this is the first time anything like this has happened to it since iv'e owned it.Do you think i should drive it to the mazda dealership 15 miles away or should i call a tow company to come pick it up? And if they tow it will mazda pay for the bill? thanks all in adavance i will keep you posted on what they say.

what kind of gas did you have in it? In one of my old cars I put 87 octane when it requires 93..... the knock sensor was tripped and went into limp mode for my next start

just a thought

Disconnect the positive battery lead and then pump the brake a couple times. Hook the battery back up and your ECU is reset.
