list of problems with my 8

center console clip broke off, replaced
seat track covers keep falling off, bah
transmission making noise, rebuilt tranny due to cracked bearing
passenger side suspension makes noise when car is hot, this took 2 weeks, mazda replaced the bushings but it still made noise. then they replaced the strut and it still made noise, so they replace all components on that side and it was quiet after.

then i accidentally hit a tree stump at less then 2 mph when backing out of my sisters driveway, and dented the fender and the rocker panel. that went into the body shop today...i was so mad at myself because i completely forgot the stump was there.

I just took mine in for service today. I realized today that I've not spent a dime on any maint for this car up to this point. I've put gas in it, and a couple misc quarts of oil when it gets a little low.

I will have to pay for a new front bumper cover since my dog chewed the existing one up a bit, but the MS kit will solve that, and that wasn't the cars fault.

The only thing that's happened to mine is the A/C **** broke. I suppose the dealership will make me pay for it today when I pick my car up. That will be the first thing I've paid for with this car (I'm trying to get them to warranty it, but I doubt that will happen).

I did have the little seat track cover come off the passenger side once, but I think that was my sons fault for the way he got his back pack strap caught on it one day (the day it popped off).

Other than that, it's been over 2 years and a month with 21K miles and no real issues to speak of.

Your DOG ate your bumper!? What kind of dog do you have? Maybe you need to, y'know... feed him more often. :D

AC **** breaking is covered in a TSB. You shouldn't have to pay for it. They should replace both the AC and Fan control *****.

Yeah... she must have run out of raw hide chews that day or something. I learned my lesson though. No more garage access for the pooches.

Mine has never left me stranded but it is the most troublesome car I have owned. 6 Months & 10K miles and it has been in the shop for these problems
1. CEL
2. CEL
3. CEL (Replaced CAT)
4. Defective Battery
5. New Starter (and spark plugs)
6. HID Level Malfunction
7. HID Level Malfunction
8 Air Bag Indicater is on now but I haven't taken it in yet.

That doesn't include the recalls & oil changes. I've owned more reliable cars that were 10 years old.

I've been burning rubber most likely when you were still a gleam in your daddy's eye. I learned all my tricks on Detroit muscle cars. I have built several big blocks in my day. I'm bragging because I can. I literally have had ZERO problems. Consider me lucky I guess.

Look at my mods and ask yourself, "I wonder if he drives the speed limit?"

Peace

I didn't bother to mention the brake squeal - that goes without saying.

Other than gas and oil changes, there have been no other costs with the car, I have had it in the shop for the heat recall/flash, and thats it.

Picked the car up in May this year and have 7500 miles on it

Took delivery Feb 2004

Went to service once, to get M flash, and have AC checked. They said AC was normal even though it sucked. I reprogrammed the amplifier myself with instructions from the Tech Garage (and wrapped that frosty pipe ) and now it's fine.

No other real problems. A little whine when shifting into 4th. It's always done this and shifting seems ok otherwise. I keep meaning to put in the Red Line gear lubes. If it persists after that I'll probably get it checked.

I installed a Yellow-top Optima battery just for convenience and peace of mind.

No floods
No squeaky brakes
Nothing has fallen off or snapped.

The center console button is a little skewed but there are instructions on how to fix it. Hasn't bothered me enough yet

Had my Pearl White, 6-speed since April 05 and no problems after 8,500 miles. 19-20 mph city and 27 highway. A guy did hit my rear bumper and I had to get it painted and it was not possible to perfectly match the Pearl White color of the body, even though I had it painted at two body shops. So far, it's all I could have asked for and more.

Sounds like an excuse, like my dog ate my homework
You say to the misses, "yeah it's was the dog"
Yeez, well I guess I'll take the mazda speed kit" :p

Man, I was driving after I just had the break squeal "fixed", and I pull up to the light and hear the same, god awful screeching sound. I felt sick, this was going to mean I'd have to send my 8 back in for service, and who knows if they're going to be able to fix it since they couldn't the first time.

Then I noticed this beater behind me. Turns out it was her brakes. I was just so used to hearing it I was ready to believe it was me.
