a little damage = a lot of money
In my stupidity I managed to run the side of my car up a cement block. I got a quote from a body shop and to me it seems quite steep. They have to replace the left rocker panel and the left aero flare. All said and done their quote was $1500! They also said they would need the car for 4 days! Pictures of the damage are below. Please let me know what your opinion on this is.
Please don't mind the dirt...

I still have some more shops to check out, but my hopes aren't too high.

yep , you did good. the rocker panel will have to be replaced, no doubt...not sure what that would cost. also not sure if you can buy aero flares one at a time, but a pair can cost $230 right there.
I'd definitely shop around.

Dude, you're telling me...One little rear-ender at 30 mph is costing the other guy's insurance company $11k to repair my RX-8.

Good luck with your repairs! May they be speedy and painless to your wallet...

It sounds a little high but in the ballpark. Based on my experience and the fact that the side skirts come painted, I would have guessed $1,000-1,200. Roughly $234 for skirts, $50 to install, $350 rocker panel, $150 repair front quarter, and about $400 to match paint and paint both base and CC. That comes to $1184. But I'm guessing and going off pictures. So 1500 may be the best quote you get. Good luck and let us know.

Doesn't sound out of line to me. You said they're replacing the rocker right? You might get it done cheaper if they bondo instead but I wouldn't go that route. Unibody construction you're better off with the rocker properly replaced.

..Yeah $1500 sounds about right considering you've got 3 panels with damage. If you've got comprehensive insurance, I think you may as well use it. The increase in your premium might end up costing you $1500 over the next few years, but at least it's spread out.

Well, thanks for the feedback. I didn't realize how much body work actually cost. I have never had to have it done before as all I have driven were beaters. But, I want to do it right for this car so guess I'll bite the bullet.
