A little delusion about my RX-8
HI EVERYBODY
the RX-8 is a great car, it is extremely funny to drive, is easly controllable: if you want to aversteer at low speed (Under 60Mph) the car is so perfect, is almost not fun how easy is to control it and restraight it on the right way, even when you push a little bit and you go up to 90Mph the car seems to be so stable and easy, but, few days ago, i had the opportunity to speed up a little more, and there it comes a funny thing: i was at 110Mph and the car started being nervous, i thought it was the asphalt so i kept pushing up to 125-130 (i wasn't looking too much the speedometer because i was busy on keeping straight the car), and the car was becoming so nervous that i was thinking that i was ready to go off the road, so, i started decellarating and at 100 the car became back stable.
Now, as somebody already now, i'f from Italy, and there, i had an Italiana car, which is an Alfa Romeo (you can see it on my avatar) and, it was normal for me to speed up to 120Mph (=200Km/h) and my top speed was 135Mph (i know, is not too much, but, you know, it's a Diesel Engine) and, at that speed, i coud easily release the steering wheel, get the camera, and take pictures of the speedometer (sorry for the finger).. thank's for the Ferrari suspensions.
I'm really missing my Alfa 147, because i think it was better that the RX-8, but, i have to say, unfortunatly, here in the US Alfa Romeo is not imported, and i think, that the RX-8, even if is not as stable as the Alfa Romeo, is a great car (for me the best second choice), and i'm happy with it, but the day in which Alfa Romeo comes back to US, i really think that i will have to leave this club.

I can not comment on speeds above 110 mph but on a few occasions I have been at high speeds and my RX8 has felt very stable. I have rented Alfa's while in Italy and they were nice cars. I doubt that they will ever return to the US because the price point for Alfa would be to high for the US luxury and near luxury market.

The 8 excels at high-speed stability. Mine's only seen the low side of the 120s, but feels just at ease there as it does at 80.
If yours is "skittish" or nervous, then I would suggest checking the Tire and Suspension forum here, get the alignment numbers, and have that alignment checked.. nervous can mean too little toe-in.
But before you do that.. check your tire presures, make sure they're what Mazda says they should be, and that all four tires have exactly the same pressure.

Alfa romeo should return next year to the US. They aren't super luxury, in fact the resale value of Alfa's is ridculously low.
I can't wait to buy the new Brera or Alfa GT. The RX-8 is stop gap for me till teh ALfa's return!
