The illuminated power window switches are sweet:
1. When you turn off the car, but are still sitting inside with the power off, the windows will operate for a short time. If the switches are illuminated, they work; if not, they don't. Smart.
2. In that vein, when the driver "locks" the passenger window, the passenger window switches turn off their lights. Smart.

Although i havent read through 44 pages of this ill list my personal favs?
1. good call on the windows, owned my 8 for 5 days now and i'd like to think of them as guilotines of i sharpened them.
2. (this has probably been said) but the 2 choices of color scheme you have on your cluster when your lights are on (i go with the red one).
3. i dont have to get out when someone gets in my back seat (unlike my old gt mustang)
4. the center consoule has a little groove in it just enough to fit the charger cable out of it so i can plug in my iphone.
5. tongiht i took a uturn under the interstate at 55...and <3

Had a look at a VW Polo today....BOY HOW CHEAP INSIDE...

I could not believe the cheapness of the dashboard, all the black plastics and centre console are made from a dull black plastic which looks like Mattel Toys, it is that cheap looking, and the "feel" of it is also cheap...BAD!!

Two things sunroof related:

I love it when you open the sunroof and move it back about an inch, the air comes right in and blows down over your face. Cools you down without the A/C. It almost feels like a convertible.

I love it how the sunroof looks from the outside when it's fully open (tilted). It looks almost like a spoiler on top.

Fold the visor against the roof in it's 'storage' position. Look at the center of the visor where it is solid (Rather than the holes through it to the left and right). On the right side of the solid section, the slot is entering the solid section. So you would hold your card to the right of the solid center, and slide it left into the slot.

I love how the cloth interior looks and feels just as amazing as the leather. I too am mesmerized at the fact that the water just pools on the hood. I clicked on this thread hesitantly because i thought it would be a list of things people didnt like...I was pleasantly surprised and learned about a whole set of little quirky things I didnt know about...this thread is solid win.

Don't know if been mentioned before...

I like the way my Puddle Lights (std in Australia) and Interior Lights have a two speed turn off.
Quick when ignition is on...slow when off (exiting the car).

I'm a new owner here. 2004 Grand Touring. I'm a long time car lover and as shallow as it sounds I just can't be happy without a car that I love. While searching for a car I was pretty lost on what to buy but I knew my car must (without exception) have the following qualities:

1. Jaw dropping looks
2. Top quality interior
3. Must make people envious of me (like I said I'm shallow, what can I say..)
4. Must knock my sox off every time I drive it.
5. Must also be reasonably practical as I have a 3 yr old.

No easy task. Not many cars fit that description but I remembered going to an SCCA autocross with my friend and seeing how amazing the RX-8's looked and performed. So I started looking for one and ended up with this beautiful metallic red RX-8 that not only meets, but exceeds my list of requirnments above.
I know this is supposed to be the little things, so here's the little things I love:

1. The sexy look of a coupe with all the practicallity of a sedan (and how cool do the back doors look when they're open!)
2. A ton of trunk space in a car this sleek? Yep, and its frickin awesome.
3. I was driving through an intersection, 4 way stop sign, and this guy was in a last gen Mustang GT and he had his window down, lookin all cocky like he thought his V8 was the sh*t, as soon as he saw my RX-8 it literaly looked like someone stepped on his *****. After driving my wifes old Ford Focus for three years I just can't explain how good that feels. Love my 8!

I was just in Mexico for over two weeks, and drove a VW pointer (stripped down Golf) the whole time. Came back and got in my 8, and my gaawd, it felt as good as an ice cold coke on a boiling hot summer day. The short shifts, the high revvs, and the awesome seats (you can appreciate your 8's seat so much more when you have to sit in some crappy other car's seat for two weeks).
I just drove it and smiled. Took the insterstate on ramps way too fast, etc. Even my wife had a good time in the passenger seat.

This one's not a small thing, but, the exhaust note. It's just so beautiful. Around 5000rpm it's already sounding sweet, and from then on to 9000 it's just symphonic. Lol I must sound histrionic right now, but try driving another car for two weeks and then come back to your 8. It's an instructive experience.

Good post mate...yep the 8 is really a special car and a Keeper IMO, for me what seals the deal as a Keeper is the 4 doors with a 2 door styling and performance.

I will say this again, IF the RX-8 was being released for the first time TODAY it would still be a class hit (even with so called "Poor" HP) and stunner in the motoring world.

Too many forget nor appreciate this cars uniqueness, it is the BEST rotary ever made...NO Question, to live with on a daily basis nothing is better.

Sunday my wife and I drove out of town on I-90 and as we're heading in to the tunnel I downshifted to second, rolled down the windows, and nailed it. the wail of the engine just roared off the walls as it climbed to 9k and both of us just laughed hysterically. Wooo Hooo!! 5 years later I love this car!

I know that feeling... I took a trip to Georgetown Indiana with my mom. I was stuck driving a minivan around for a week. The back road my sister and brother in law live on just BEGS to be driven on, and I was stuck driving it in the minivan.

I even saw a red rx8 in Independence Missouri on the way back. I never imagined I could miss a car that much. lol
