Thumbs up The little things make my days better

I don't know why, but it is those little things that really make my day. Didn't exactly have a bad day at work today, but did have a rough argument with the girlfriend. So i am mad and go to subway. on the way home, i notice the distinct headlight patterns of an RX8 behind me when i pull up to a stop light to turn right. Then i look over and see a beautiful red RX-8. I roll down my window and look over to give the driver the big Thumbs Up. When i do so, i notice that both the driver and his passenger giving me the sign of acknowledgement of being proud fellow 8 owners. That just made my whole day. So whoever that was (the light next to the Anderson Mall where Civic Center Blvd ends about 9:20PM Sunday night) thanks for the cheering up.

Anyone else ever have something this simple just brighten their day?

hahah yeah today.. I was actualy gonna post a thread about what happened me today.

Was over a friends house and was having a 'eh kinda time.. We went outside and some of my friend's friends stopped by. They seen my black Rx-8 and asked "Hey who's car is this..." she pointed to me and I raised my hand. Two of her friends start asking me questions about it.. how is it.. how does it drive.. then oh yes that famous question came up.
Random guy friend I dont know:"So what does it have in it? A V-6 or V-8?"
Me: "Neither it has a Rotary."
Both random guy friends: "A Rotary????"
Me: "Yeah.. a Rotary.. it has no pistons"
Both guys: "Um.. a what.. I dont get it...." look of confusion upon both their faces

God I loved it.. I explained it to them in extreme dumbie terms to apease them they just nodded but I knew they didnt get it hehehe.. but yeah it made my day to finaly have that discussion happen.

Drove up to Parkfield today, had another little old lady looking at the car with special interest in the suicide doors and back space

"It is so beautiful, she said, but it looks so expensive" and that last was with real sorrow. I assured her that beauty and design need not be unaffordable, and was less than an SUV! She went away saying 'I've got to tell my Jim about this!"

Yeah I actually had something like this happen the other day. I was just having a bummed out day, and I had a consulting job (I do network set-ups for small businesses and large households) in the afternoon. So I go to my job, and at the door is a complete MILF (sorry, but it's the best term for her). So before anything she's like "Oh my God- what kind of car is that? I'm not usually into cars, but that is just gorgeous (and so on). So I'm like "Well you can take a look if you want," and then she says "hold on, let me get my daughter." So out walks her 19 year-old daughter that could have just walked out of FHM. They both ogled my car for a good 10 minutes, asking what kind of engine it had (yeah that was fun), how on earth it was a 4-door, and so on.

Needless to say, if there ever was a time where I didn't question making the right choice in the car department, that would be it.

When I got my 8, i thought it would be a chick magnet. But no, its almost always old people that compliment my car.

But the real question is -- did you PIIDB? And if so, the daughter or the mom -- or both?

Owning an RX-8 is so much fun! I am proud to say that I recently joined the ranks...had my 8 about 3 weeks. One day after I bought it my boyfriend and I were at a Chevy dealership looking at a TrailBlazer b/c his truck had just bit the dust. The salesman kept looking over our shoulders and we couldn't figure out what he was staring at. I turned around and low and behold he was checking out my RX-8! He was completely enthralled it was so funny. He asked, "Is that yours?" I happily replied, "yep, it sure is". After he asked me about oh 40 questions about it I asked him if he wanted to look inside of it. He grinned so big you would have thought he was a kid a candyshop. (You know like the one in ***** Wonka and the Chocolate Factory?!!) Anyway I opened the doors and he was so impressed I offered that he could sit in it and he even looked more excited.

No kidding he talked to me about my car for probably 45 minutes and completely forgot that he was trying to sell my guy a vehicle. It was so funny. Of course I was excited that someone wanted to talk to me about it, especially having JUST purchased it! In only 3 weeks I've probably had almost 100 strangers come up to me and ask me about my car. It's so great to see their look on their faces when I talk about the Rotary. My 8 makes me so happy, I just love it. It will put a smile on your face all of the time!

I'm in the same boat- got my Rx8 three weeks ago as well. I had to swing by the insurance place that day so they could take pictures of it. The ladies at the office loved the look and made me show off the suicide doors. I've gotten a ton of comments about the thing out of the blue.

The best part is I look forward to driving the thing every day. It's a lot of fun.

Last weekend had two separate occurences. Sitting at a stop light a very nice Porsche 928 pulls up next to me. I also own a Prosche so I am a fan, and turn to check it out. The driver asks me,"what is that color?" Black cherry, I replied. He then says "that is georgeous, what a nice car" with great enthusiasm. I returned the compliment, light turns green... Then, the next day, while sitting at a stoplight in a very busy tourist town, from out fo kowhere, this man comes running up to the passenger window, scaring the life out of my passenger, and exclaimes, " hey you've got a Shinka too!" I tell him yes, congratulations on your car and shake his hand. He replies " actually, it is my wifes car. But she let me drive it to get gas once! It is very nice. What a great car." By this point, the light had already turned green, and I was blocking traffic, we said our good days, and went on. Do you remember the old Honda slogan "You meet the nicest people on a Honda"? Well, I think the same applies for 8 owners. Both of those definitely made my weekend a little nicer.

^ lol. A true testament to false advertising. Mazda has one that is just the opposite. At least for me; but I'm guessing the majority of you have at least one picture of your 8 huggin you.

As for the little things, here's mine. Any morning that I crest the top of the hill on a local highway and see no state trooper in the grass median - then I get to catch the downhill side into a nice 1 mile stretch . . .

beeeeeeeep!

No, no, the slogan was about Honda *motorcycles*, circa 1960's, I believe.

One of my favorite things is to look at the confusion on a persons face when I say "No no, its got a 1.3 litre engine."
