Locked Keys In The Boot - How I got them out.
Hey Guys,
Long time lurker, finally decided to register today.
This morning I decided to take off my rear light and de-mist it by putting it on the receiving end of my de-humidifier. By the end of the day all of the vapour had evaporated and it looked brand new. Went to bolt it back on, put the keys next to my rachets in the boot and decided to close the boot to admire my work. The moment I did so, my heart quite literally stopped. Two seconds later the indicators flashed - the whole car was now locked.
As I usually do with my heavy case of 'RX8 Hypochondria' I went straight onto Google to see if anyone had done the same, and whether there was an easy way to get them out. Naturally it was a big fat no - however after staring at my car for about 2 hours, and looking up methods of breaking into cars I was able to open my boot without damaging, or even scratching the car in any way shape or form. The reason I'm posting this is to help anyone else that has had a funny 5 minutes and done the same.
To get the boot open, I literally just got a wooden wedge - wedged the top left of the drivers door open enough so you can fit a stiff wire through, and literally aim a long stiff wire for the boot release button just under the steering wheel.
It goes without saying that I breathed a heavy sigh of relief once I had them out!

I take it you don't have a second set of keys for your car?
You might want to take care of that issue.
Would be a lot easier to just go "aww crap", then walk into the house, grab the spare key, and pop the trunk.
Also, let us know if your door wedge has caused you to have an air leak next to your left ear at highway speeds.
BC.

this happened to me one night when i was out.
I only had one set of keys at that time. So i go out get some pizza... park the car... get pizza. Then as i return i had to put something in the trunk and for some stupid reason i put the key inside and i didnt unlock the doors.. i only opened the trunk using the button on the remote. I accidently close the trunk and boom ... Locker out !! The key beeped 3 times and locked me out of my car at like 10 pm in a plaza. I called CAA and he did the same thing you did wit his special tools and charged me like 60 bucks i think.

You sure you don't have any spare keys around?
I remember trying it on my 8 and nope, can't lock myself out.

I just registered so I could say thank you :-) My son locked keys in car lastnight and couldn't find anything on youtube either. Followed your instructions and managed to hook and unlock door with a wire coat-hanger. Saved a visit from a grumpy old bastard who wouldn't give me a quote and would only say it would be at least $85 for a call out fee. Time to get a spare key I think
