Looking to Buy

I am looking to buy an RX-8. Can anyone give me any feedback on what to look for. Is it costly to get them repaired? I am currently looking at one sitting at a dealers lot. 9000 miles on it and cost is sitting at 25k. it is the 6 sd. Touring pk. Any feedback before I take this leap ?

I bought my RX8 a week ago and love it. I drove a Mazda6 before this and it was one of the best cars I have ever driven. As for what to look for...just make sure the car "fits" you. When I sat in mine it was like putting on a glove it fit so well. My friend Eric swears that he couldn't get comfortable in one and that is why he didnt buy it. As for the engine, I have had no problems with it. If you browse many forums on the RX8 you will no doubt see people referring to recalls and flooding. I don't worry about recalls because Mazda has been really great over the past 2-3 years with my 6. It had about 4 recalls on it and I would get a phone call, take it in, get it fixed and drive off happy. As for flooding, just dont shut it down before the engine gets warm. It takes about 3 minutes of driving around the block for me and I love to drive it so no worries.

IMHO, 25k is a bit steep for the car. Granted I haven't seen it or know anything else about it, but I got my 05 6 speed (not GT, but does have sport+appearence+navigation) for just about 2k more than the one you mentioned.

Good luck and if you have specific questions, please post them as I have found this forum to be a very valuable place for information.

We need more info on the package level with the car to comment; big difference between "plain" and a loaded GT. Any reason you're not buying new? You should be able to get at least $500 under invoice on a new one this time of year. Check Edmunds, KBB or CarsDirect for pricing.

I think you can probably get them down from that.

I got an 04 Touring 6spd for not much more new.
