looking to buy an rx-8
I own a 2002 subaru wrx currently, and i am just getting out of the whole my car has to be the fastest mind frame because someone is always going to be faster. It is not worth all the money, and I am really looking for some thing that is fun to drive, not to slow, looks great, handles well, and has good interior. I am going to test drive some rx-8s tomorrow, but i just wanted a couple questions answered to help me in my decision. Is the rotary motor reliable? I am also worried about the low torque. Is it really that bad or does the high redline make up for it? Is it fun to drive? Any year models i should try to avoid? I can't think of any other questions right now because i'm half asleep, but just let me know what you would want to know about the rx-8 if you were about to buy one. Thanks for the help in advance.

I think you'll enjoy the car almost as much as you'll enjoy all of the terribly sarcastic and hatey "search" replies you'll likely be hearing soon!
As long as you keep the RPM's above 4-5K, it's a very peppy car, and a blast to drive.

the engine is reliable we have at least 1 over 100k and quite a few over 50k with no problems at all. the take off really isnt bad at all its right around the same as the wrx (not sti) you will love the high rev and the handling.
as for aftermarket look in the aftermarket part of this forum there is a wealth of info there i read it daily because there is always new information.
