I've been dying to get an rx-8 and I finally gonna get one this year. My boyfriend has an srt-4 and thinks that rx-8's are super slow. I didn't think so but I wanna make sure because I want a fast car that can compete with his.

so there's no way of making it fast? I'm like in love with this car. And it doesnt need to be like super fast like 400 or anything but needs to move.

 

Unless you spend around $10K on it, it won't be much of a competition.
Plus you gotta learn to drive the thing like it's meant to be driven...
Buy the car for what it is (a real drivers car) or else look to getting a Subaru or the like.

 

the car is superb in corners and definitely isnt slow. but it wont beat anybody off the block in a straight line. you're gonna be disappointed if thats what you want.

have you driven an 8 yet? go test drive one, see if it handles how you like. if you love the car, perfect! clearly there's a lot of people who love this car!! but it gets a lot of criticism from "outsiders"

It will be very fast as long as you mash the pedal to the floor, all the time. And do not shift until near redline. I don't think it will be as fast as srt4, but still pretty fast as long as you drive it like above.

The only problem is wearing the engine out earlier.
