Looking to Buy a RX8 or FD

The 8 serves me well and I really love it as well.

I have owned both. a 1993 FD and a 2008 40th Anniversary Edition RX8. Before buying the RX8 I had found a used 1995 FD in Florida to replace my 93 FD which had to be given up after a divorce. The FD was like no other car, and I have owned all three generations of RX7. Someone beat me to that Florida FD and I wound up buying the RX8. The FD was a raw and visceral driving experience like no other. The RX8 is more refined. I wish I still had my FD but realize it would have had to be modified to deal with the long-term cooling issues and longevity of its twin-scroll turbos. Most have them modified to a larger single turbo, and better cooling systems. I have seen some awesome extremely modified FDs making outrageous performance, but at a price.
Also remember the "93 FDs had only a drivers side front airbag, the "94 and "95 FDs added a passenger side front airbag. No US sold FD had side curtain and side airbags like the RX8. And the FDs had ABS and limited slip diff, but no DSC or brake force regulators. Engineering has come a long way since 1995-even though in Japan the FD was continually upgraded through it's 2001 production run in Japan.
I love my RX8, but at times long for the brute force of that FD twin turbo engine in that small and incredibly tiny and light chassis. But all past glories aside, the RX8, properly taken care of, will be less work to maintain in the long run. I wish I could have kept all my seven RXs. Each had such a distinct personality.
