looking for opinion on building a grip car

Ok I already have some idea of what I want to do. But I want here from the community on how they have their car setup. perferbly n/a and not forced induction. because I'm not looking to get in over my head yet. I'm looking to spend about 3k in mods for now. My main objective is to build a good aut-cross grip car. so lets here those setups and opinions and idea are also welcomed. Thanxs in advance for your opinions.

Go check out the competition racing section. Also, stop calling it a grip car, it makes you sound like a dumb kid.

If your going to autocross, get a rule book by whatever organization you are going to run with, select a class and find out what mod are allowed.

I would start in a stock class in a stock car and save the money until you know what works for you.

yeah, if your planning on auto-xing you had better find out which class and what they allow. if you are just looking to eliminate that body roll. either go with the mazdaspeed suspension set up or the racing beat swaybar kit and end links. 1st money you need to spend however is on the RB screens.

Well, the good thing about this forum is that you have the power to delete your own threads...

ps... I was dumb enough to join the Army 16 years ago, and jumped out of planes for 8 of those.

Thank you for your service. If you are a Ranger, you should have a thick enough skin to take what these guys can give. Take a little time and read what you can here. The answers are out there.

$3k for autoccross= Light wheels+better tires (DOT competition tires) and even the wheel/tire size might be constrained by the rulebook. Your best bang for the buck if youre starting out is getting a LOT of track time.

Check the SCCA rulebook for what mods are allowed before doing anything else, or you might find yourself getting bumped to a class where you are completely outclassed.

We had an 05 Sport show up yesterday. Bone stock except for 615 Azenis. Damn fast car. I'd just get tires and learn how to drive it. No offense but these cars are fast but to be able to drive them fast is a whole different thing.
So a new set of Azenis and an Evolution drivning school you will be able to drive MUCH better and still have money for GAS!!!!!!!!

I think I would shoot myself if I was ranger. Just joking. It a little to uptight for my blood. then again I was thinking about joining TPD 900 which is attached to the ranger regiment and you have to go to ranger school. Sorry got off track. If you must know I'm PSYOPER. Psycological operation specialist. I'm the anoying guy who follow green beret around and plays ac/dc and try to get shoot by talking to civilian and saying dumb **** on my loud speaker. Well off that unrelated topic. I will look into all the rules and figure on what I want to do thanks for the suggestion the rules din't even occur to me. PS NOTEARS316 I assume your probally at least a SFC or higher if your still in so thank for the info sergant and what unit are you from. Thanks for your service

If you want to stay in stock class for autox, consider getting Tokico adjustable shocks. They do a good job on minimizing body roll, and you can adjust them back to softer for regular driving. I'm very pleased with mine.

Being former Air Force, I have to say "Why would anyone jump out of a perfectly good airplane???" (heh) Actually I had jump training too, and did a little skydiving on the side. Good luck, and thanks for serving.

The shocks would be a great upgrade if the stock shocks were trash. But the shocks on the RX-8 are not junk. Just not adjustable.
If you shocks that are adjustable Please do some reading as to why you would want to increase rebound.
The industry standard is Koni By the way.
Stiffer shocks on street tires will will make the handling horrible. Shocks and DOT R tires and now you got some potential go fast cornering.
