Looking at a red 8 with a VIN#xxxx29503 - far enough along to be issue free?

I've been having some issues finding a 8 with a build date far enough along to be basically confortable that the A/C/Airbag and other recalls are done.

There is a RX8 in Houston with a VIN #xxxx29503 and a build date of 12/03 I might purchase. I think thats far enough along I should be safe from most issues. Any thoughts?

Anything on the dealer lot had to have the recall stuff done before it could be sold.

there are issues in some of the older build cars that there are no fixes for. e.g; they retooled the way they installed transmissions midway through the 2004 models. They fixed the way they applied greese to the defrost button, etc.

also, I think some are misusing the term "recall"

Mine was made in December and has no issues whatso ever, but it might be the luck of the draw.

My VIN is 26XXX. No driveability or reliability issues. I did have the M flash done as well as the recall work on the passenger's side airbag. Build quality and rev-ability are very high!

My best advice is to wait until the 05 comes out in a few months.

Thumbs up

If price is notan issue to you, you might as well wait for the 2005 RX-8 model year to come out. Other than that a 12/03 build date should have no problems, except the TSB for A/C 4/22 and a few PCM flashes.

Good luck with whatever your decision might be.
