me: It's got a rotary.

moron: Is that a 6 or 8 cylinder

Me: It's a rotary
Same story, but the guy refused to believe me. It started off the same, then....

moron: No, I heard about this car. It has an 8 cyl. engine.

me: I own the car. It has no cyl.

moron: Is it fast?

me: Yeah, it's pretty quick

moron: then it's an 8 cyl. (walking around the back of the car) You see right here on the back, it says rx "8". I knew it was an 8 cyl.

me (after a futile attempt to make a rotor with my hands): Maybe your right, I don't know much about cars. I guess the salesman lied to me. :D

Gosh people...a little harsh, you do know that not EVERYONE knows alot about cars nor do they know about the rotary engine. Relax, and feel special that they took interest...give the guy or people a break.

No, no, no....You guys have it wrong. It's because they're both red. See? They're both red, they both have 4 tires...they both have engines. It's easy to get them confused.

Imagine dealing with "Is that a toaster?" Give the Sti guys some credit for being hardcore into performance.

you'd be surprised the weird things people say when they see something new. I've been asked if it was an electric car because of the sound of the engine, another guy was a little to happy to see it and asked me if it was a v10 engine and my friend next to me quickly replied if it was a v10 I wouldn't have spanked him in my sti. I've come to realize that most people will just say the frist thing that comes to their mind when they don't have a clue about something.

I don't think the 8 looks anything like a Viper. Oh and thank god it doesn't handle like a viper. This shop owner I know has one. Yeah it has *****. In fact maybe too much *****. This being the case they don't handle all that well.

Nice thread res!

I wonder if anyone still gets this, I sure haven't. I could see how people got it back in the day when the car was still new and non-car people hadn't seen many of them yet. One thing on the 8 DOES look like the Viper, the roof sort of has the double bouble look like the Viper.

Dodge Venom
3.5L V-10 350HP
3000 Pounds
RWD
A V-10 that only puts out 350HP??? Were engines really so crappy back in 2004 that this would sound like a good idea?

I think it's an easy mistake for the uninformed to make.

True. I had my neighbor tell me "That is a nice car, is it an rx7?" the first time I showed up with the car at our new home...

Seriously...why do newbies bring up ancient threads?

I have to agree that there is a slight resemblance from the front of an RX-8 only with the Mazdaspeed bumper to a Viper. At least from afar. Lol.

Not sure, but I guess it's better than them starting duplicate threads on something that's already been covered.
