2005 auto with limited slip.. What is the point?
Driving rt 191 in Az. from Safford to Springervill, The coranado canyon. Great switchbacks, beautiful pavement, goes up to 10,000 feet. To die for 150 miles.
But with a 4 speed auto, you can't get down into first gear, going into a turn, unless going really slow. So you use second gear only,, no power at low rpms Does the 6 speed auto help? And why a limited slip???

+1 on Manual 6 speed.
I take it you own an auto 4 speed? If so, why'd you even buy it? Not knowing how to drive 6 speed, dealing with family/kids?
Honestly, if you want the full performance, you're going to need the true 6 speed.

Come on..
This AT hating nonsense has gotten old.
Why post a response if your not looking to give beneficial feedback? Nonsense
OP- The 6 speed AT won't downshift shift from 2nd into 1st until you hit about 20mph. However, the 6spd AT has shorter gear ratio's; you will see slightly better pick up with the 6port AT. On another note, using a Cobb (with a raised redline) can help combat this issue by topping out at a higher mph in each gear.
To all the haters-------- I've said it before and I'll say it again. BOTH MODELS ARE SLOW fin today's standards. Without FI BOTH MODELS can't compete with the competition. So why ball bust on AT 8's? They both handle in the same manner, that's why we buy these cars

I track a 6sp auto, and noticed that it was a little slow (how about that) pulling out of slow tight turns.
As a cheap fix, I installed 225/40r18 Hankook v12's which geared it down 3.3%
Rpms run up faster, mpg is the same, and what I gave up is top end: 120mph instead of 125mph (so what?).
After looking at track pics, I'm gonna put 215/40r18 on next time for another 1% geardown.
This mod is actually cheaper than stock since the smaller tire costs less.

Yeah, and the 6spd auto has the same engine power as the manual up to the 7500 rpm fuel cut, however RWHP of 6spd auto is probably slightly less than manual at those rpms because of torque converter in auto.
Anyone got the link to their 6spd auto dyno?

Can't help you with the differences of the 4 speed auto vs the 6 speed auto, other than one having better hp numbers (maybe that's what you need?), but I can point out that having a RWD sports car with a limited slip is way better than having a RWD sports car with an Open Differential.
When you are mid corner, and get heavy on the throttle, a limited slip differential is going to spread the power between both rear tires, whereas the open differential is going to send all that power to the tire that has less traction, spin it up a bit, and not make you go as quickly as you would have preferred.
Plus, it helps in foul weather.
