Loud clunking noise in rear?
Today i was driving home on I-95 and each time i would hit a bump there would be a loud bang in the rear of the car, it almost sounds like shes bottoming out, theres not much in the back so its not being pressed down in any way, any ideas?

Yeah, why would the rear suspension hit hard? Mine does, too. I can't even push down the rear with my 200#"s.
mine is caused by no more travel on the rear swaybar endlinks. I never thought a swaybar could bind, but if you look, you might see that the rear bar can't go up anymore even when it's sitting still.
I'm gonna take my stock ones off and shorten about 3/4inch when it gets a little cooler.

If your sway bar links are binding then the bar is probably on upside down. Check the online manuals...
If your RX-8 is a 2004 then the rear suspension is probably weak. Mine was like that but I upgraded...

Darkbrew,
Yeah, I always thought sway bars wouldn't bind when the car is lowered, but Mazda designed them so as the car bottoms out on a bump or is twisted going across driveways, the bars quit working.
Other RX8club guys have mentioned the endlinks binding, and it took me 2 years of tracking to figure it out myself. I think I could disconnect the rear endlinks and it would work better just like some guys have suggested. I'll get that chance when they're off being shortened.
Somehow my new 2007 gt was lowered with ENKEI GF-1 at the dealership I guess. It has the yellow dot rear bar with the c pointing upwards.
You've been on here a lot, but Takahashi, I think is his name from down under has very good pics of putting on endlinks to fix this problem. he even had a chart of how many mm to shorten for how many inches or cm your car is lowered.
DOES ANYONE HAVE THAT ENDLINK SHORTENING CHART TO POST UP?
