love it, love it, love it!

Hello again. I must fess up, after rereading some of your posts: I am a she. I wasn't gender-specific in my messages, so people must have assumed I was married to Mrs. Practical. My husband is the one concerned about the gas mileage. He wants what's best for me and the family, yadda, yadda. I want what I want. Not sure what I'll end up doing. I may not do anything until October or so and cross my fingers that I can use my powers of persuasion to bring him over to the RX8 side - and that there are still some 2007s on somebody's lot. And who knows?! Maybe gas will be $2 a gallon by then (being fecitious here). I really do think the dealer did have a buyer for that car. They were very low pressure with me. And they were very, very nice. I would love to do business with them. And I'm pretty sure they only had one automatic sport left on the lot (they had advertised it in the paper for $21,488). Seemed like a pretty good price, though after my trade-in (and showing them what deal another place offered me) they were going to do $21K out the door for me. So I just look at the picture I cut out of the brochure (and taped to my cubicle wall) and dream of owning one. Maybe I'm having a late-30s crisis or something. The great thing to me is my kids can fit in it. I'm sick of the four-door sedan story!

He hasn't been to this site but has heard about some of the problems. Consumer Reports gave the 2007 RX-8 the half-black circle for reliability. Darn consumer magazine. I guess there's no way to measure happiness on this board, but I would think there are plenty of pleased RX-8 owners out there. Maybe I'm wrong. At least there seems to be agreement that when the cars are working, they're a blast to drive.

The only difference in my messages based on your newly discovered gender is find all "wife/her" and replace with "husband/dumbass."
Seriously good luck and keep the faith. Warranty and a good dealership take care of all with no troubles. The fact that he's a guy and doesn't want you to buy this car makes me question his sexual preference.
Last point. Now that we know you're a girl please search on "hawt girls and their 8's" thread in the picture/gallery and contribute as required.

Our mistaken assumption was understandable though - in my case, my wife drives an MX5, and she's AFRAID of my RX8! Let me reiterate a previous post: Take him for a test drive in the Beast, then take him straight out again in something more economical. He will understand.
If he still isn't convinced, just promise to be nice to him if he agrees ("But darling, I just get SOO excited when I drive it!";oD)
But seriously, you mentioned something about an automatic?
Don't. Really. Get the manual 6 speed. If necessary, learn how to drive a manual. You WON'T regret it!

Stop riding the clutch. This is a common problem/mistake with people who learned to drive in an automatic (and girls!;o)
I did the same thing when I started driving manuals. Fortunately I learned not to do it by the time I could afford a really nice car.
